My turn to vent?

Some “rest of the story”:
I don’t have many friends. I’m shy. One of my siblings is very outgoing and has many friends, some of whom I know and with whom I get along well. My boss had already agreed that I could hand out ‘invitations’ to my team, and I can verbally invite other coworkers I talk to. My siblings friends – the ones I would ask – are actually nice, supportive people (moreso, apparently, than my sib). Plus, as mature, thinking, responsible adults, they’re perfectly capable of saying no.

That (“stupidest idea”) sibling wouldn’t come based on geography; the “change your name” sibling doesn’t have transportation. Third sibling claims not to know anything about my plans (fourth sibling works odd shift, wouldn’t come, never answers e-mail or phone).

More “rest of the story”:

Youngest sibling still thinks it’s a stupid idea, that I can't handle hecklers. Ha! Eldest sibling has no opinion, actually WILL attend (and probably heckle); haven’t heard from instigator yet.

LOL, I'll apply. I don't have a sister, just a brother with whom I have little in common (including Disney - brother and wife weren't thrilled even when my parents gave them a gift of a trip when their boys were young.) I've read a lot of your posts, especially on the transportation board and you seem like a lovely person!

My sister can be a PITA, so I know how you feel. I just wanted to say good luck with your class and good for you for doing something like this! It sounds like fun and I hope you enjoy it!

Public speaking makes me cringe! Yay you for being SO brave! I'd let it go, but I think you're normal to feel a bit hurt. I'm guessing the sibs didn't know that you are trying to overcome a fear, and are just puzzled and "eeeww" about the whole thing.

If they know you are challenging yourself and trying to be better with this course and STILL made fun...I'd probably never talk to them again! That's just mean!

I'm sorry your sibs reacted that way. I used to be that sib, feel bad for you and for my sis, now thaks to Cymbalta I'm nice to everyone and thank God my Sister is very understanding.
As for you I say 'You go girl' I think that class is an excellent idea for your situation and like a PP I believe you've got more than two people reading this thread who would come to your final. Also think you should use your sibs AND your supportive internet friends as your 'final'. Don't know where you are but if you are near me let me know I'll come and bring my sister
You're doing something I'd never have the nerve to do.
