My trip with Grumpy on wheels.

Thanks so much for this report! I wonder if my dad would go when it's cooler. I know he would love EPCOT, but that's probably it. :(

I really enjoyed your reports!!

I'm just cracking up at your replies! Thanks for the compliments!

gopherit-Maybe we should plan a trip and hook your mother and my father up! That's a hoot!

I swear, I keep thinking of stuff I didn't include in the reports. One thing that I thought was too funny was when we went to Cape May Cafe. I told you how Dad was about the salt & pepper not being on the tables at some of the restaurants. Well, CMC had salt & pepper shakers, but the salt only had one hole and Dad couldn't get any salt out of it. After asking for a different salt shaker and still not getting anything out of the one hole, he ended up taking the plug out of the bottom and dumping a pile of salt on his plate. I laughed until I about wet my pants right there in CMC. Then, the last morning that we had a breakfast PS there, he pulled out a pocket full of little salt packets he'd pilfered from somewhere? and started opening them up to salt his eggs!

Another thing I've gotta tell ya. Just this afternoon, my aunt called to check on how our trip was. He was upstairs talking to her on the phone and I was curious about what he would tell her about the trip so I snuck up there and listeded behind a wall so he wouldn't see me listening. He was telling her about how WDW was for adults too and that it "wasn't all Mickey Mouse. It just all started because of a mouse and that Walt Disney made WDW for all ages..." I guess you can tell we saw One Man's Dream while we were at MGM. I haven't been able to wipe the smile off my face since I heard him telling that.:teeth:

I absolutely loved reading your trip report. Maybe it's because we're from the same place, but I feel like I know your dad. He sounds like a cross between my dad and my papaw. I felt like laughing and crying at the same time while I read your trip report, because I think my papaw would've liked "them boys" too. I hope you both treasure the memories of this trip for many years to come.

Go Cats!!

Hi Kaycee, thanks for posting. I'll cherish this trip for sure. It was tense starting out, but we ended up having so much fun. I just think he was kind of scarred to be going so far from home. But when he got to Epcot and saw other seniors and some even with ECV's and enjoying the shows and stuff he really loosened up. He even had wine in France and he never drinks at home!

I only wish I'd been able to get Mom to Epcot with me before she died. Dad and I both agreed that she would've enjoyed this trip as well.

Hey, you, me and nisemouse ought to have a Lexington, KY Dis meet sometime! Maybe do lunch!

A Lexington DIS meet sounds great - just let me know when and where, and I'll be there!

It also looks like we'll be in the World around the same time, judging by your countdown clock. How long are you staying? We check in to the Dolphin on June 12.

We'll be at BCV from June 6-10 and then at AKL June 11 & 12, go home on June 13th. Looks like we'll just overlap one day.:(

Great trip report!

Glad you found "those boys" :) I tend to hang out there alot too ;)

I am so glad you kept replying to your post! After I read the first one I was like "this is it!?!" but luckily I kept on scrolling to see the others. Great report, I'm glad to hear that your Dad ended up enjoying himself in the end! I hope we get to read the further adventures of "Grumpy on wheels!"

this was a very tender, touching and amusing trip report. I, too, have a "Mr. Grumpy Gills" for a Dad- and I can't even imagine getting him to agree to go to Disney!:( But, you will have these special memories forever. I'm sure that underneath all of the grousing - your Dad loved and cherished every minute with you.

Thanks for sharing!!
