In 2006, I took a few days to visit my hometown of Lima, Peru. I also took a day trip to view the Nazca lines. Here are some photos from the trip. I hope you enjoy them.

How cool! I know folks who have taken the Peru ABD really loved it. Looks very pretty!

Sayhello

Thanks for posting the pics. Dh and I visited Peru a couple of years ago and absolutely loved it. What a beautiful country! We started in Lima, then went to Punto, Cuzco, the Sacred Valley, Machu Pichu, then headed back to Lima. Dh suffered Altitude sickness and so missed out on seeing very much at Cuzco, so we will be going back so he can enjoy what he missed.

i didn't know you're from Peru!
how old were you when you moved to the states?

i have to admit, South America is very much off my radar - never been interested in visiting anywhere on the continent, other than a short infatuation years ago with Argentina when i was hooked on Antonella  (the telenovela)

DS and his wife went to Chile this summer - she hadn't been back home to Santiago since her family made aliyah when she was 14 years old! :goodvibes

Thank you, everyone.

We moved to the US when I was 5. Peru and South America has a lot to see and do, as well as having a very rich culture.

Beautiful pictures Mike. Really enjoyed seeing a little bit of Peru. :)

Thank you, everyone.

you were really little!! do you still have family there?

SA is a big destination for the kids here (their tiyul gadol after sherut betzahal)
they go to one of three places - either to SA, nepal/india, or southeast asia (thailand/cambodia/laos/vietnam)
those interested in the hardest trekking go to SA (which is why every now and then you hear about someone getting lost on a trek in the andes or wherever......a few weeks ago, people masquerading as trek leaders took a few of them into the mountains and then abandoned them there....the search and rescue team from here found them after they'd been missing deep in the wild for 2 weeks......)...

Beautiful pictures Michael.
It looks like a lovely country! The Nazca Lines are fascinating!
Had you been back to visit since you moved away as a young child? Or was this your first journey "home"?

I like the "Good Luck" signage out in front of the Lima Airport Photo . . . not the comforting words you want to read at an airport before your flight!

Awesome photos Mike. Some beautiful pictures there.

I really enjoyed your photo trip Mike.

Some truly beautiful photographs and such an interesting range of cultures.

Your pictures brought back so many good memories.

I had a vacation in Peru in 2009 and it was a trip of a lifetime. I totally loved it. One of the highlights was taking a bicycle tour of Miraflores, Chorrillos and Barranco. I just wished I had more time to explore.

On my list of places to go is to return to Peru and next time see parts of the Amazon, go hiking around Colca Canyon, Mt. Misti, and Arequippa.

I stayed at the Mansion San Antonio in Miraflores while in Lima. Good hotel. We were there in October. It would have been nice if we were there for warmer weather to take advantage of the pool. But beggars can't be choosers. I'm always a beggar. Hahaha.

My wife is Peruvian and I've been there many times. Been to many of those same places you took photos of. Thanks for posting up the nice photos.

I hope no-one's families were affected by the earthquake in Peru this morning!

Sayhello

Mike, thanks for sharing these pictures. The architecture of the houses and buildings are awesome. The hairless dog is actually pretty cute! :thumbsup2
