My Trashday Rant: People's trash that blow into my yard,

It's been a windy winter here in South Texas and every trashday we wind up with all kinds of trash in our yards...deeply inbedded in our yard.

It's not that hard to put all of your trash in a bag and tie it.

Now if you accidentally do this (I know that it may happen on occasion), do you be a good neighbor and go and retrieve the trash when you know it's obviously yours? Like, you know you're the only one in this section of the street with little ones that eat DinoBites Chicken Nuggets...everyone else is either an adult or have much older kids. Plus it's your trashcan that has already flown down the street 4 houses...:confused3

we pay for our trash pick up here..we are just outside the city limits, so we are considered 'county'..well our neighbors on one side..don't pay for trash pickup, and never put any out..they leave it piled outside their back door till someone remembers to put it in their truck and they take it into town and dump it wherever..we have had windy weather too..and I just now picked up 35 pepsi and beer cans from our front and back lawns..which all came from their house..(we don't drink pepsi or beer, neither do the neighbors on the other side of us),,along with McDonald's bags (we don't eat fast food), and a few plastic bags..I just put them all in a bag, and tied them to their back door..last week their front porch chair pillows and a pillow they keep on their rocker..blew all the way across our driveway and into our front yard..I brought them back and left them on their porch..well now 1 pillow has been on their front lawn for the last 4 days..and the pillow to the rocker is in their side lawn..one really windy week last month, half of their garage roof (they rent the house) all blew off..they had that green tar paper stuff..it was in peices and sheets all over our lawn, their lawn, and the lawn of the guy on the other side of them..did they pick up one piece of it?..of course not..I picked up all that was on our property, put it in a box, and put it on their back porch..as far as I know..it's still their..maybe they don't care how their yard looks, but I do!
Thanks for letting me vent..this one has been bothering me..lol!

OK, you definitely win this one. I called my husband this morning who was at the church working and he confirmed that when he left this morning, our cans and recycle bin was already put away in our garage and he saw the mess too and just kicked it into the street. Funny, it blew right back into our yard. I'm not as bold as you to return it back to it's original owner, but I do have signs I'm going to put up on our community mailbox to gently remind everyone (not picking on anyone in particular) to kindly bag and tie their trash and secure their recyclables. They'll know who I mean since the evidence is now all over creation:)

We collect all kinds of neighborhood trash here! We live on a corner, downhill. We're downhill from the north and downhill from the east, so we get it from both directions.

PLUS, not just trash, but we get all the wonderful leaves from the neighbors up both hills from us. One of the neighbors will go through their yard and pile them all up, but then never bag them or anything. So when the next wind comes along, it all blows into our patio.

Oh, I agree! Around here, most people have learned to keep their trash bags covered with an old blanket or sheet to keep the crows from getting at it, but there are inevitably people who are clueless and just leave the trash out overnight. Come morning, it looks like it's been attacked by a pack of wild animals! Of course, there is trash strewn everywhere that just "disappears" into the wind...:rolleyes1

Major pet peeve of mine as well. I go out at least once a week and fill a big garbage bag full of other people's "recycling." Well thanks, because your recycling, has now become my garbage.

We once had a Christmas tree blow over into our yard. I wasn't sure which neighbor's it was, so I couldn't return it. I left it for days sitting next to our tree, so they could notice that we had two trees and they had none. I hoped they would figure it out and come get it. Alas, I had to pay for two trees to be picked up that year.

Let me add to that the neighbor's dog that wanders all over the place that tore into my trash and scattered it everywhere.

I would SO like to neatly stash all the trash he scattered on their front porch :furious:

I have a pretty small yard (we all do in my n'borhood) so it's kind of easy for trash that didn't make it into the truck to blow around, I just pick anything up that ends up in my yard, hopefully the next time the trash guy come by it'll actually make it in the truck...

How about when someone moves into the neighborhood and all those peanut packin's are flyin' about? :headache:

for months and months. :lmao:

Wow, you really shouldn't get me started on this!!

We CONSTANTLY have our neighbor's trash blow into our yard and it annoys me to all get out!

Serioulsy, my next door neighbor has had an empty X-Box 360 box flying from their yard into my yard for the last two months! For some stupid reason, they don't ever seem to want to actually throw it away, so the other day when it was really windy and it blew into my yard again, I'd had enough. I picked that stupid thing up and hurled it over their fence into their back yard.

:rotfl: :rotfl:

It's a bit evil, I know, but pick up your freaking trash! I'll take a guess and say they won't even notice it's there until spring.
