My toaster--likely can't be saved but figure I'd ask....

I burnt toast this morning--complete with flames.

It was an end piece and some how got situated onto the heat element. Couldn't get the fire out, so unplug the unit and put it in the sink and watered it. (probably not the wisest of choices, but had to work quickly.)

So is it dead?

I'm thinking, yes.

The only thing that was burning was the bread.
 
oh it's dead...DEAD! And even if it isn't, I wouldn't ever trust an electrical appliance that had been submerged at some point.
