I know this is going to come off sounding mean, but just remember to pack your deodorant and re-apply my friend...re-apply! I can't tell you how many stinky people I got stuck sitting next to in close quarters and it was gross. I even overheard several people commenting on the smell one day at AK. I realize it's hot (well it really wasn't this past week), but if your deodorant isn't working for you, may I suggest "Certin-Dri." It's been talked about on the boards and you can get it at CVS. Works great! :sunny:

disclaimer: if you have a medical problem that makes you sweaty and smelly, well I apologize if you take offense to my post :)

I too have notice that a lot of people do not wear deodorant at Disney! I have had the unfortunate pleasure of sitting by a few of them as well. During the Muppets 3D, I had to get up and leave because the guy next to me and my daughter was so stinky I thought I was going to vomit. The family behind us left as well. The mother pf the family behind us thought it might be rude to leave in the middle of the feature - but I reassured her that anyone who complained was welcome to go sit next to the stinky guy.

Now I have to add. This person was very old enough to know better. It was August! It was hot! I swear by the smell of his a** and his breath he didn't believe in frequent washing or toothpaste.

If this applies to you - shame, shame, shame on you for forcing us to endure your body odor. If you can afford to go to Disney --- you can also afford a bar of Zest, Coast, Dial, Dove, or whatever your preference. JUST USE IT!

We had a similar situation in what I believe was "Time Keeper". In this case it was an obviously foreign family, one of those nations for whom the dark mysteries of personal hygiene yet evades. We may not be a popular country over seas (as if I care), but at least we master the basics. We stood behind them for a few seconds before my eldest started coughing and waving his hand in his face. Right about that time it hit me as well and we moved. Another family strolled up to the place where we were smiling and ready to enjoy the show. We waved them over to us, and at that moment I saw the look on the husbands face turn from a smile to "something else" and they quickly joined us in the space we made for them. Not quite the "magic moment" you look for, but we shared some laughs at the expense of "Mr.Steenky and family".

a package of baby-wipes and a small can of spray deodorant (so the family can share) in the daily park knapsack goes a long long way....lol

even younger kids will benefit by a nice wipe down during the day too - just to get the sweat and grime off

Welcome to my world. I live in an Amish community and they haven't heard about deoderant yet either...or it's against their religion. I don't know how their van drivers can stand it. I do know they have a 'windows down' rule.

LOL!! This is soooo true and so funny!!! You would think they would smell themselves!!!

:crazy2: :faint: i agree ..there were a few times in some of the wait lines for shows or rides that someone was a "little ripe".whewwwwwwwww

And then there's the other extreme. The people who bathe in perfume. 1. Perfume doesn't hide body odor. 2. I don't need to smell you a mile away whether its perfume or body odor. I've gotten major headaches from sitting by both types of people.

I completely agree about the perfume! I think I would prefer the BO to a perfume bath. Gives me a headache and makes me need my inhaler.

This is too funny!!! And too true!!! I had a lady check me out in Kmart and I almost couldn't finish the tranaction. It almost made me ill!

I am one of the unfortunate people who can not wear deoderant. Notice can not not will not. I bath often and will also wash often as well. I am allergic to all deoderants. I have tried so many including all these so called hyperallergenic products. I would really be glad if I wasn't but that's life I guess.

Tigercat, there's your situation, and then there's the one we're talking about. I assure you it isn't the same.

The situation I wrote about, well, they had to make an effort. This was a "cultivated" scent. Deeply loved and fostered until it was ripe. Perhaps they were trying to drive away evil spirits? Dunno, but it was working at many levels...

Now everyone has to deal with the realities of hot days and long lines. Unlike yourself, there are some people who simply don't believe in common courtesy and what that consists of in North America. You are not who we are thinking of here.

I know people who have the same sensitivity as you (have you tried powders?) I know it ain't easy.

All the best,

The Caipira

Rolling on the floor laughing - very very well said!!!!

Caipira I realize the difference between the people you were talking about and me. I just posted because I worry about this with myself and whether or not I do smell. I know some people just don't care and they were the people you were talking about so no I didn't think you were talking about me. I just hope that if I do smell at some point some one close to me will let me know so that I can go clean up. It would really be better for me if I could wear deoderant then I wouldn't be so worried about it.

Haha... Wow! Great tip... I give good props for that!

Yeah, I agree, it should be on like a huge sign while entering the magical world of Disney. LOL

I just can not understand how these people can not smell it themselves. I bath daily, but I have in my life had a couple of instances of "deodorant failure." Just a couple of weeks ago I had tried a new product and then done some manual labor at the kids' school. When I took my shirt off that night I smelled myself! I doubt anyone else would have noticed unless I put them in a headlock LOL! But I noticed and quit using that brand PRONTO (bathed before bed too.) How do they not know that they reeeeeek :faint:
