My 'tip' for the first day on board

We went on our third cruise last month, and I thought I would pass along a 'tip' that worked well for us.

When you first go on board your room is not ready and even when it is ready your luggage may not show up right away.

My kids always want to go in the Mickey pool once they are on board, so this time, I took swim suits with us in my bag that I carried on.

When we went on board, we went first thing to the Kids Club and 'checked in' (no once else came in the whole time we were there. It gets much more crowded later).

Then we went up to the 9th floor and the girls changed into swimsuits in the bathroom and headed out to the pool. We found a table by the pool and I went and got 'food' for us while DH sat at the table. The pool was not really crowded because most kids didn't have their suits. So they were just 'watching' the ones who were in the pool.

That worked so well for us that we plan to do it at our next cruise. BTW, the reason we didn't have them wear their suits onboard is because we had 'matching' clothes and wanted the picture to look nice. I am thinking of next time just having them wear a slipon dress that covers up their suits that we can just pull off at the pool.

This is a great tip! Thank you very much!

Its one of the few times that you can enjoy the pools. The pools get so crowded, especially on days at sea.

Yup - already planning on having DS10 take his bathing suit in his backpack. DH can take DS to the pool while Im running from Palos to the Spa. DH, DS and I are wearing matching orange Tigger tshirts when we get onboard the ship. But maybe DS will change into this bathing suit around noontime and put his tigger shirt on top.

with stuff you'll need during the day before your luggage arrives. They mention prescription medicines, but somehow forgot to mention swimsuits. And we have been bringing them in the day bag for years. How else can we spend the afternoon hot tubbing.

We did the same thing!

DD wore her swimsuit (2piece) under her clothes so she was ready for the pool as soon as we boarded. We also went to sign her up for the clubs that afternoon. The line that evening was all the way down the hall.

Great idea and thanks for the input. In only 17 days we will put your idea into practice on that amazing ship !!

We have done this for our son on all three of our cruises, definetly the best time to enjoy the pool. I would also add to check if your room is ready when you board, last time ours was and we good relax and drop off our carryon luggage!
