I had no problems doing the countdown timer, but....now that I look at it the time is off. I had it set for 5:00PM EST (I thought!).

Help!! What do I need to do to fix it?

Thanks!

That's odd. I checked your "code" and it is set for 5:00pm. Unless my math is worse than usual, it does seem that your countdown is off by 2 hours.

I could do a pseudo fix on it... but I think we'll wait until tomorrow so JC can have a look at it first.

I did the manual fix so it's right for now. I haven't looked at it closely enough to find out why it was off. I imagine it was the time zone offset but I really don't know yet.

If Jim is around, I'm sure he will take a look at it too. I just changed the "5" to a "3" in the hours spot in the date var.

Well, I can account for one of the extra hours - we're currently in Daylight Time and the Trip is scheduled in Standard Time, so we gain an extra hour when moving from Daylight to Standard Time. So, the Countdown Timer is right in showing one extra hour. Does that make any sense?

I'll have to take a look at where that second hour is coming from.

Hail Psiklops!!

I totally forgot about DST. Sorry!!

Michele: no problem - I also forgot about it when I first developed the Countdown Timers. It took an extra 3 hours of calculations to figure how to account for it AND timezone changes.

I'm still trying to find out where that extra hour is coming from - it isn't just your Countdown Timer...

Ok, I've figured out where the extra hour was coming from (if this makes any sense):

The timezone difference is automatically calculated when you subtract the current date/time from the countdown date/time. It uses whatever timezone you set for your computer. I was double-counting the difference since I didn't realize that the timezone offsets were already figured into the calculations.

The only people that would notice this are those who are taking a trip in Standard Time and they're currently in Daylight Time. It won't mess up the site, but will add that extra hour.

Ok, to summarize, I'll change the code for the Countdown Timers in the next few minutes and you should just re-generate your Countdown Timer after I've updated the site (I'll post a reply here that the site is ready).

Sorry about that. :(

Still note: you'll still see that extra 1 hour until we change the clocks back this fall...

Ok, all done - try generating a new Countdown Timer and see if it comes out right.

Hope this works... :D

Testing my new countdown. Let me know if this worked!:)
