I'd just like to share my thoughts with you all.
Last night while in the PotC Lobby, a girl told me that VMK was closing in May. I told her not to start rumors, that VMK was not closing. I played a few games of Pirates, then somebody else said VMK was closing. Well.. I looked on vmk.com expecting it to just be a rumor. As soon as I read "..the future of VMK" my heart sank. Even before I read the newsletter I knew that VMK was closing.
At first, I was sad. I will miss all my friends, the fun, and VMK itself. Now I'm mad. We're the ones who went to the parks and kept VMK around. We went to the parks, did the quests, and played VMK. We kept the virtual-magic alive by going to see the real-magic and giving Disney our money. Then they announce it's closing. What?
What about all those items we saw but were never released? Flying Carpet? Card Game? Card Game Items(those looked awesome)? Pink Tron? How many times did were we told something would come out, and it didn't? Yet we stayed with the game. I've been playing it since the very beginning. Not Day 1, but a month or so after. We stayed with the game when we were countlessly told something would come out "soon", which we all learned that our definition of soon and VMK's were completely different.
Within the past year, VMK has gone down hill. Yavn seems to have disappeared, only making the rare appearance in the newsletter. What happened to Push?
Then, I started thinking about how long VMK has known all this was going to happen for. I'm sure they knew about it before the Blackheart quest. So, why'd they give us such a ridicoulos guest for items that we'd want, when it's going to close in a little over a month? Why not put it in the stores for 1,000 credits?
What I'm trying to say(yes, I know I'm rambling) is, I don't think we should be treated this way. I think we should have been the 2nd ones to know VMK was closing(right behind VMK Staff) as soon as it happened. I just don't appreciate being treated like we are at Disney's mercy. We might actually be, but we're real people that have played this game and spread it's popularity, which spread's the popularity of the Disney Company. I'm sure VMK has known this for a while since a lot of the rare items have been released recently. Green flip hat, Inferno, etc.
I was so happy when the new refreshment room & items came out. They looked very cool. The week was going to be great, earning credits to build my Main Street Refreshment room, and I know I can still do this, but it just seems a little pointless. I haven't been back on VMK since last night when I found out the news. I don't know if I will.
I encourage all of you to write letters, e-mails(I'll be emailing daily), make calls, do whatever you can. It's worth trying. I wouldn't bother with Contact Us since they really have no control over it. I'd use Guest Relations, Internet Relations(or whatever it's called), and the other things posted on this board. There's many that have been already posted.
ETA: I just saw Yavn told us that we couldn't change VMK's mind. He might think that, but we can try.
