My thoughts on the Anaheim Fairfield Inn

We were in Disneyland November 1-6 and stayed at the Anaheim Fairfield Inn, and I thought I'd give my impressions of it.

Overall it was a nice stay, the staff was very helpful and always right there if you needed them.

I may have looked at the wrong websites, or didn't read them correctly, but I couldn't tell from pictures if it had interior or exterior coridoors. It has exterior, which is what I had expected since most of the other hotels in the area are like that. We were given a choice of rooms, either on the 1st or 4th floor and we chose the 4th so we wouldn't be on the ground floor. They have a bank of 4 elevators but one was out of service while we were there. This didn't impact us much, although one morning it was tough getting downstairs when a bunch of families were checking out.

The room was a standard hotel room and was clean and in good order. For me the downsides were:

~Only one sink, it was doable, but its so much nicer when there are 2 sinks for 4 people

~The bathroom was TINY! The door almost hit the toilet when you opened it, and when fully opened it was almost touching the tub. There was no room in there. The toilet was so close to the wall that there was barely shoulder/elbow room.

~The shower head was very low. I'm not tall (5'3") and I had to really tip my head back to get it under the shower-I don't know how any tall person could shower.

~There wasn't a close mirror. I'm blind as a bat without my glasses, and to apply makeup I have to be very close to the mirror. Most hotels put a second mirror on the bathroom door so I can get close to that, but the Fairfield Inn didn't. There was a second mirror but it was mounted behind the dresser. If you need something closer you may want to bring your own.

We had a minor issue with our door one night, it woudn't close and latch. Maintenence was right there looking at it, and it was an easy fix. There was a part on the bottom of the door that had somehow come out and was preventing the closure. He pushed the part in and mentioned that they needed to/ were planning on replacing the doors/latches, but until then that was the easy fix.

The walk was doable, although a little hike. Harder at the end of the day when everyone was tired. It took about 5-10 minutes to get to the bag checks, so not too bad although by the end of our trip I was looking much closer at the BWPPI!

All in all, it was a good stay, and the hotel was fine. I don't know if I'd stay there again, I'd like to try something a little closer, but it was a good stay. The coupon for $.99 kids meals at Millie's was nice, and we got a coupon for 4 drinks at their food court when we checked in.

Thanks for the review! I really like the honest ones that say the good and the bad. Sometimes people only write about one or the other.

SO this hotel isnt "right across" from the park like it says? I can deal with the room being tiny, we wont be there unless we are resting or sleeping. haha but there is only three of us. my dh and dd.

would you suggest my dd in a stroller for the walk? SHe is five but has high functioning autism. I dont want to wear her out at 6:15 in the morning before we even reach the park.

Technically, it's across the street (you could probably hit a pitching wedge on top of SM from the Fairfield front door). But the crosswalk (which takes you to DL & DCA front gates) is about 200 yards (a guess) down Harbor. Then you cross Harbor Blvd. & walk another 300-400 yards to the front gates.

There's a map around here somewhere that will show that the Fairfield is the 4th or 5th motel down from the Crosswalk.

I recommend the stroller (given your situation).

Phalene, Great Hotel report. :thumbsup2

I agree with all you said. I'll add a couple of things:

- basic no frills outdoor pool. (but served the purpose) Which also has an outdoor dressing room (that we used on departing day).

- McDonalds is in the parking lot. Came in handy for Mcbreakfasts & for various nuggets & ice cream for DS 8 who eats about 37 meals a day.

- Also, the only Fairfield i ever stayed in that didn't offer free breakfast.

Like Phalene, I think it's a good motel, but I'd probably pick another one next time. (but if nothing else was closer, i'd stay there again, no problem).

Thanks for the report! We are staying there Thursday through Tuesday this week.

I would, I had my kids (4 and 6) in the stroller for the walk to and from the hotel for a couple of reasons: there is a lot of traffic on the street and my 4yo isn't the most attentive to what/where she is; there are quite a few people on the sidewalk and I didn't have to keep making sure they were where they needed to be, and finally it was quicker!

The big negative we had when we stayed there was because we stayed during Thanksgiving week. They are nice to their staff and let most of the housekeeping people have a couple of days off - Thanksgiving and the day after. Not such a big deal having to make our own beds - we do that at home every day, so we certainly know how. But, if we wanted clean towels, we had to go down to the front desk and pick them up. A slight bit of a bother because my kids were all very young, and we had to go down as a family to get them if the towels we'd previously used did not happen to be dry enough to use again by the time we needed to use them, and we were on the 9th floor on the outside end farthest from the elevator. BTW... that was a scary height to have young kids in a hotel with exterior entrances to the rooms. I was constantly reminding them to stay by the building and away from the railing.
