First of all let me say I think SOG is really beautiful......the place is so clean and they take such good care of it. The rooms are huge and nicely decorated. For the $ you can't beat it as long as you are not handicapped.
The first day we checked in they gave us (MIL,FIL,DH,myself&ourkids) the wrong rooms. FIL is handicapped (uses both cane and wheelchair) and needs a handicapped room. The rooms they gave us were NOT handicapped rooms. Finally after 2 nights they had a handicapped room available for my in-laws....what a joke!!
The only difference between our room and their handicapped room was a steel bar in the shower....that was it. My poor FIL had to hold the bathroom door handle with one hand and the wall with the other to sit down and bathroom!!
Their handicapped room was the furthest room from both elevator and pool. If he didn't have his wheelchair it would have taken the poor guy forever!!
It isn't easy to get around the pool area if your handicapped either. There was only one handicap ramp by the pool area. I felt so sorry for my In-laws. They really expected more from SOG than they got.
Our room was a nightmare for the first 3 nights. The toilet was clogged when we first got in there. 7 phonecalls to maintenance later the issue was finally resolved. Housekeeping was TERRIFIC!! Such nice, nice people!! The only place we ate at was Evergreens........yuck,yuck,yuck!! Never again will I eat there!! The pizza was aweful and on Mother's Day there was only 1 cook
!! Two hours after being seated we finally got our food....cold and disgusting!!
Sorry I wish I could say more positive things about SOG but I can't. I was very hurt and angry for my In-laws. One would assume that at least SOG of all hotels would be more accomidating for the handicapped.
