I thought I would give my insight on this whole Disney World Alligator attack deal that went on. First off, Disney has plenty of signs that give you warning there are gators in the waters. I wish I would have taken some this last month when I was there. But we didn't spend any time in or around the seven sea's lagoon. Mainly because our resort was off the lagoon.
Disney prides themselves and also mentions on most boat rides, that they design most of their beaches so it isn't a place that gators like and that is why they aren't around. Disney World was opened in 1972. Never has there been an attack until 2016. That is 44 years of a spotless record. Even with a water park being attached to the Seven Seas Lagoon. It was called River Country and was closed in 1999.... And attempted to reopen but never did and officially closed in 2001. I spent many of my vacations enjoying this water park. It closed and the rumors are it was because of a flesh eating amoeba in that lagoon. My honest belief is it closed due to Typhoon lagoon and Blizzard beach overshadowing the park and leading to low crowds.
Just a another little story.... Did you know there is a gator that has lived in the Magic Kingdom for years? Most customers and guests think it is fake. But NO, It is a live gator that hangs and lives in the most popular park on Walt Disney property.....
Back to the topic at hand. With the growth of Disney in the past ten years with the Boardwalk and also the Bungalows that have been built on stilts over the Seven Seas lagoon at the Polynesian resort. People have had more access to the waters edge and more. Making the gators and people co exist.... Which means that people see gators and natural reaction is to feed them and with the encroaching human footprint we put down, The gator is inclined to take food as they see fit.
I remember as a child going to Disney and the only reason to be on the beach was to see the water parade. We also went off Disney property and found a really cool river to ride them big trikes that floated on the water. And we were warned numerous times about gators and saw one abandoned canoe from someone that had been spooked by gators. Kinda freaky for an 8 year old But I made it.. LOL...
It was a unfortunate accident that happened. And I would hate to be that family. But I sure hope that family doesn't buy into every lawyer that is calling them currently and realizes no amount of money will bring that child back nor will it make it feel any better. I guarantee Disney will do everything for them that they ask. And will for the rest of their life. Disney will do anything. I have had them do some very small things... For instance.... This last month... We got a souvenir and had it delivered to the front of the park... When we got to the front of the park it wasn't there..... They figured out where and what it was. Gave me a full refund and still shipped it to our house. It was on the doorstep when we got home.
In Closing.... Most all my friends that are on here know my heart is full of Disney World. I also have a huge soft spot for kids. And What happened SUCKS all the way around. But please don't blame Disney World for this accident.... And I hope and pray the family sees that going after more money won't fix anything. And realize that Disney will do anything to accommodate them for probably the rest of their life, Disney or not.

I am agreed. It was a tragic accident, and no place on Earth can be expected to prevent all possible accidents, and nor should they have to try. The lawyers calling to make a buck on the grief of the family should be "horsewhipped with a horsewhip" to quote Bartlet on The West Wing.

This thread will be closed because it does not provide and news or rumors on the subject. You can discuss fencing and the gator removal program in the other threads.
