My take on Mission Space

I wanted to post something about my experience on MS which I hope people will find helpful.

I went on MS with my daughter (10) and son (6) and we all loved it. That said, there have been so many mixed experiences ranging from "it was lame" to "I thought I was going to die!", that it's really not a ride you can prepare for because you just don't know how you're body is going to react.

I was very nervous about this ride after reading so many mixed reports, but I knew I had to try it at least once. I chose to ride it at the end of a day around 4:30pm on an empty stomach... just in case. That way if I did get sick, it wouldn't impact my entire day. That being said, I did feel a little disoriented for about an hour---you know, that swimmy feeling you have in your head when you have a really bad cold or sinus problems. But it didn't negatively affect the remainder of my day.

Now this was my experience so obviously it may not be yours. I am the type of person who can get nauseous in the back seat of a car and will get seasick. I don't go crazy spinning the tea cups and I had to close my eyes half way through star tours because i was getting nauseous. For whatever reason, I did fine on MS. No problem whatsoever. I've read posts from people who can ride anything who were put out of commission from MS. It seems like this ride is a crapshoot because you have no way of predicting how your body is going to react to the experience , you just have to way out whether or not you are willing to risk it. I personally was, but with an element of damage control. (I wasn't going to ride thes first thing in the morning on a full stomach).

The warnings are there for a reason. The motion sickness warning is very unpredictable and totally subjective. Just because you get nauseous in some situations, doesn't mean you will get nauseous in this one (I'm living proof of that). I would however heed the claustophobia warning. There's no getting around that one.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for the input, Dean. I am quite wary about trying M:S, but I know I'll kick myself later if I don't. I don't usually have a problem with motion sickness-- the worst I did was on Body Wars, but it wasn't that bad for me-- so I'll probably do the same thing. I just don't want it to ruin my day. I'll probably be fine, though... I hope! :D

Wow..that was a great review! Thanks so much for sharing the info. It will definitely help me and my family decide which of us will be able to ride it ;)

I'm the one who said I thought I might die. and I like you was wary but wanted to try it once. I had taken Bonnie for motionsickness.
However, I have high blood pressure and this was the biggest problem on the ride itself. Yes I was sick for hours after but it was that problem ON the ride that was the worst.
THis is why I warn so strongly that anyone who KNOWS they have high blood pressure or siezure disorder or some such, not take the chance or at least think several times about it and not heed the "disregard the warnings you will be fine" advice.

Each person must make their own choice but it should be an informed choice and you are right no one know how their body will react until you are in there and it may be too late.

Yes, McCall make some very good points. I certainly did not mean to brush over the other health warnings... heart conditions, high blood pressure, pregnancy, etc..

I did not have any problem with MS but my 33 year old daughter's eyes were blood shot for about 2 days! But. . . she didn't get sick!!!

Sorry I did not mean to imply you had. But some posters on this subject in general have.
