my stroller stolen

Belive it or not it will! It is still early into the process, but look into getting an insulin pump. It has changed DD's life so much. I resisted for about two years, now it seems like such a waste of time. We went from 6-8 shots a day, down to one "stick" every two days. Also, if you have a pediatric endocronologist near you it is a huge step up in care, or at least find a doctor that looks out for your child. We were lucky to find a doctor at the children's hospital we went to when she was diagnosed in the ER. Best Wishes.

I suspected diabetes a couple weeks ago but I wasn't for sure. She was drinking alot and then she was weighed and had lost 5lbs. 4 years old and weighed 30 pounds!! I called the pediatrician and told them extreme thirst and weight loss. They couldn't get me in until 5 days. By Saturday she was sick. Sunday I took her to an Urgent walk in facility. They did nothing but do a xray and said "something is wrong but not sure." :confused3 By Monday night she was so lethargic and eating high carbohydrate foods and drinking gallons of fluids. We ran her to ER with a blood sugar of 790! We live in a large city in KY and we are fortunate to have a Ped. endocrinologist. He has been awesome. I call in every other day with #'s and just to check in.

Ped. endocrinologist said no pump for at least 6 months because ins. doesn't like to pay for it until then. Plus, he said we should wait until she is old enough to want it. He said too many little ones pull it off.

I wish I had thought differently about the color. My vanity was in play choosing one, huh? LOL I really thought who would steal a bright color. They could "blend" in with the other gray or black ones walking out.

That is horrible that we have to worry about somoeone stealing our strollers while enjoying Disney World. I really hate to bring our stroller with us on our upcoming trip, but our DS is only a year old and the stroller we bought is going to be so much more comfortable for him than the hard plastic Disney strollers. We are writing our name in several spots on the stroller as well as brining a lock (I think). I don't want to worry about it being there when we come out of an attraction/restaurant.

You would think it would raise a few eyebrows if you saw someone carrying a stroller that had a lock through the wheels. :confused3

ETA: I'm glad Disney at least did something for you. I figured they wouldn't really care since they're not responsible for lost or stolen items.

My hubby thinks someone was watching us to know when we went into SciFi. They had an hour window to steal it and we didn't know it. CM's were directing the mass of people leaving the Osbourne lights right beside Sci Fi. So this person had the perfect opportunity to steal it without anyone noticing; throw their child in and start walking in the mass of people.

Sorry to hear about that. It is awful that people do things like that regardless of where you are.

How easy to snatch a stroller is exactly why we bought a bike lock to use through the back wheels of our Sit-N-Stand. While DH would be putting DS3 in the front and buckling him up I was unlocking it. Never took more than a couple of minutes and I liked knowing that our stroller would be there when we returned to it. While it is true that someone could bring in a tool to cut a bike lock more than likely they would just move onto something a lot easier. The longer they take on one stoller the more likely they are to be caught or have the owners find them. I would also guess that the people that took the OP's stroller just saw one that they liked and grabbed it.

Sidenote - I am very impressed with how WDW handled the situation by giving the OP a stroller rental and reimbursing the OP for the stolen goods.

Since your DS is only one years old have you considered a backpack carrier? There are some really nice and comfortable models out there. We used one with a kickstand on it when our boys were little and it was sooooo convenient and easy. Could keep them on our backs while waiting in lines, could keep them in the backpacks while watching some of the shows/parades, they were up high so they could see everything and we never had to worry about or fool with a stroller.

so sorry it got stolen I would have cried I love my Mac's

do you really think a bike lock will work we want to take our triple but we are worried about the flight and if it gets stolen we are out $900:scared1:

We are using orlando stroller rental this time. It was even recommended on the disney moms panel. Its cheaper than disney rental prices and the double stroller is much nicer than disney's. Its a citi mini jogger, i believe. We are also bringing a bike lock and threading it thru our diaper bag straps and the wheels. Taking no chances this trip!

Good idea.

I hope people will learn from my mistake and ordeal. We can learn from this and help people on their next vacation.

When we went in March of 08, I was so scared someone would take my Phil & Ted. It is bright lime green, so it definitely stands out. Luckily it was fine. But after hearing a few stories about stolen strollers, I think I will buy a wheel lock for our upcoming trip.

I am really sorry someone did that to you. People who steal truly suck.

So sorry to hear about your stroller.

We are taking our Sit N Stand with a long lock for the wheels, a pad lock to attach the backpack in the storage compartment, and even a little lock to lock the zipper of that bag.
Hmmm...maybe we could lock the kids in too??? JUST KIDDING :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

It was the security guard who told us to go to Customer Relations and relate the problem. He said they would "probably" give us free rental and may reimburse for the other items. I forgot to mention they also reimbursed us for the Disney sunglasses we bought too that were in the stroller. We received vouchers for the sunglasses and new tshirt. And the yacht Club reimbursed us for the refillable mugs.

I just want my stroller back! Security guard said most people wheel their kids up front and leave it but it has been 4 days and not returned. Lost and Found said it may turn up in a few weeks but I doubt it.

I'm so sorry...how horrible!
We have a coral Mac and a grey one as well. We are bringing both. I think I'm going to get a lock and lock the two together by their back wheels. I don't really care if the CMs get mad...I'll be EXTREMELY mad if my strollers get stolen so unless they are willing to reimburse me I'd rather lock the wheels together and know Ill have them both :)

So sorry to hear what has happened to you.

I see people talking about them being sold on Ebay. Have you done a search there to see if it has shown up there?

I am also very sorry that happened!

I always leave things in our stroller, albeit with a bit of concern, but so far nothing has ever happened.

Perhaps you standout, high end stroller, was too great a temptation.

Truly terrible.

I have always been afraid of this happening. I just bought my first mac this year and I love it! It has been on 3 trips already, but you just never know. I am really sorry this happened to you.

We bought a bike lock for our plain Sit-N-Stand after they raised the prices on the rental strollers. Prior to that and when we took our own stroller we never worried about it even though we had two WDW rental stroller taken during our stays. We saw quite a few Sit-N-Stands and one time found our stroller with the bike lock tangled in the back wheels as if someone had tried moving it. It was still in the same location and in a stroller parking area so I don't think it was a CM trying to move it. I think it was someone that tried moving it, pulled it back, found too much resistance and then moved on.

We had thought about putting the bike lock through the front wheels to make it less likely to have the lock get tangled if a CM were moving the stroller, but also figured that someone stealing it could just put the stroller on the back wheels (pop a wheelie) and still move it without too much trouble. On the few trips that the lock was used there was only once that we know a CM had moved the stroller and the lock got tangled around a wheel. It took a few minutes to untangle it but I liked feeling pretty confident that whenever we left our stroller that it was going to be there when we got back to it.

I had my new camera stolen out of our old, beat up stroller. I just wasn't thinking. I don't think it matters if you have a new expensive stroller or an old messed up one. Someone may take it, or take the stuff you leave in it. Lock the wheels together, and take anything you value with you. It is just too big a temptaion for crooks nowadays.

We stayed at the Yacht Club and DH spoke with the Concierge and the guy was shocked. He said "this doesn't happen at WDW." LOL He really lives in a magical happy place.

The man giving us our wrist bands for the MVMCP asked if we had our tickets. I said yes you want me to get them out. He said "No, everyone is honest this time of year." I replied, "no, my stroller was stolen last night." I think he almost fell over too.

This happened to us 6.5 years ago. The front desk at the Boardwalk was not surprised at all. Nor was the girl at City Hall that said strollers are stolen frequently. Glad they treated you nicely, they didn't treat us as nicely and would only comp us a stroller for the rest of the night. We were there for 10 days and were on day one, so that didn't help us at all.
