enjoying the review so far

Oooh we love Earl of Sandwich, I'm not sure where you live but there is now an Earl in Bluewater, the sandwiches don't seem as large but they're still delicious![]()
enjoying the review so far![]()
Wishing Matt a speedy recovery![]()
Loving your review!
Joining in. Exciting to read a live(ish) report!![]()
I love EOS especially the Holiday Turkey Sandwich! Unfortunately not all locations serve that sandwich year round.
I'm really enjoying your live report. Especially the food porn!
So glad I found your review today! Excited to be following along and enjoying your writingThanks for sharing.
Following on insta (I'm happiest_haunt) and here! 22 days in Disney sounds great.
Following, excited for your continued reports.
I'm in...and I'm so jealous of your 22 days!!
Love a live report! Not the easiest to do but so much fun to follow. Fun fact about the tomato soup at EOS: a CM there a few years ago told us it's basically Campbell's canned tomato soup but mixed with evaporated milk instead of water. Simple and brilliant at the same time - we've had it at home and it's amazing!
Hope you have an excellent day tomorrow with your family![]()
22 days! Can't wait for the reviews! Enjoy your trip!!
Joining in, love a live TR!
hate it when someone is ill on holiday but at least you still have lots of time left to be well. My DS won't eat sandwiches but adores EOS. Imagine![]()
Mhm shouldn't have read this so close to lunch time I'm so hungry nowHi again!
So I left you guys on Monday (the ‘live’ness of this review is lagging!). Our plan was to hit Epcot that afternoon and evening for some World Showcase fun but Orlando weather had other plans. The heavens opened and I wasn’t in the mood for swimming around Epcot. So we hung out at the villa for a little while and the fam returned, looking very much like drowned rats.
Things brightened up later that night and we decided to head down to Disney Springs to eat at the Boathouse. Dad, the first in a long line of navy men to not become a navy man (but still with a maritime obsession), had spotted this place the day after we arrived and it has been strong on his radar ever since. He was quick to suggest it and, with no other plans, we were all happy to tag along.
For those of you who haven’t seen this place yet- it’s huge and very cute. It’s heavily styled (I guess if you have an aversion to boats, you’re not going to enjoy it!) and bright and airy. We checked in and were seated straight away (this is a party of six at about 6.30pm, so lucky or what!). We had a cute table with a view of the lake out of the window.
To drink: water all round, lemonade for Ali, a margarita for mum, and Bud Lights for the boys. I indulged in a prosecco. Here’s a picture of my drink (yeah, I dug in before I thought you guys may want to share in the bubbly goodness):

We got bread to start us off. I obviously wasn’t paying attention when the server told us what this was but it definitely tasted like a brioche (read: sweet and warm and hard to resist the temptation to gobble the whole thing myself).

So Matty, Chris and I got appys. Chris got the firecracker shrimp:

He really enjoyed these, and the portion was big enough to share between him and my dad (and me and Matt and my mum). I’m not a fan of buffalo spice, and I could definitely taste that on these, but Chris and my dad devoured them and they’re the shrimp experts in our family. I guess the best indicator of quality is that the plate was left squeaky clean at the end!
Matt and I had a cup of the lobster bisque:
![]()
It comes with a pack of crackers too, but this little thief took care of that for us:

The bisque was everything it should be: creamy, a little bit sweet, and hella moreish. I mean, seriously, just pop me in a bath of that stuff and I’ll be a happy bunny. But we were civilised: there was no bathing in the bisque and I even managed to keep my licking of the bowl and spoon as ladylike as possible (Ohmygod the bread dipped in the soup… To. Die. For.)
Entrée time. Matty had the grilled fish tacos. With burger and steak on the menu I had no idea why my little carnivore chose this, but he was really, really glad he did. He cleared his plate and declared them ‘amazing’. I had a bite and he’s right, they were pretty damn delicious.

Chris had the steak sandwich: arugula, grilled beefsteak tomato, BOATHOUSE steak sauce, toasted ciabatta, served with fresh cut fries. He said this was good- didn’t eat much of it because he had a belly full of shrimp.

I had a snapper special with a soy vinaigrette and stir fried veggies. Omg this was good. The fish just fell apart and the crust on the outside gave it a little spice to it. The veggies were crisp and the sauce was lickably good. (it also provided the opportunity for a fish biology lesson for Ali, who was absolutely fascinated).

Ali got the kids burger. She had it plain but then doused it in ketchup so go figure. She wolfed this down and then took the cute little car it came in home to refill with her breakfast the next morning!

Mum got the garden pasta shells (asparagus, roasted mushrooms, wilted arugula, shaved Grana Padano, garlic) with a side of fries that she absolutely didn’t need. She added chicken to this, and really enjoyed it. She said it was a little spicy, but in a good way.

Dad had the cedar planked salmon. This literally disappeared in five minutes- I think I was still helping Ali put ketchup on her burger when the server took his empty plate away. In dad language this means that it was exceptional (I’m not convinced he had enough time to taste it, however).

So, yeah, absolutely fab meal at the Boathouse. We're already booked to go back in a couple of weeks (and I'm already menu planning!)
