Baltimore checking in again!
Can't believe I fogot to mention soft shell crabs! They are best lightly sauteed and on white bread.
We also have great corn and tomatoes and always pick some up when driving "down nee oh-shen hon" Again, if you are from Baltimore, you would slice a suuper ripe tomato and put it on white bread with nothing but Helmans mayonaise.
and the best thing to cut the spice after eatin some steamed hardshell crabs are Berger cookies! They are a brand of cookie made in "Bawlmer" that are like a shortbread cookie on the bottom and topped with chocolate icing that is as thick or thicker than the cookie. Alot of bakeries around town try to imitate them, but there is something about the icing on a Berger that can't be beat.
Oh!!! and I also forgot to add egg custard flavored sno-balls topped with marshmallow cream in the summer! There are stands all over and it is a sign of summer when they open. They are nothing like snocones. They ice is shaved off a block and is like snow (some places use an ice crusher, but that is unfortunate) there are all flavors under the sun to put on the ice, but an egg custard one is truly Baltimore. Sigh.
