This may have been posted on these boards before, but I have never read about it.

But, on the first day we went to IOA, we rode Spiderman a couple of times first thing in the morning. Then we went back a couple of days later in the evening and went straight to Spiderman. This time is was different. It seemed much more intense to me and I screamed at times, where I had not the previous morning. When the ride stopped, I told me daughter that I thought it was different than the other day and she said that it wasn't, it was just the same. I didn't think so. So, when I got off the ride, there was a ride attendant sitting there and I asked her if I was crazy or was it was more intense in the evening than in the morning and she said, yes it is. I asked was it because more younger kids are riding earlier and you don't want to scare them, and she said yes.

Am I the only person who didn't know this ride changes in the evening?

Thank you for posting that. I want to ride this ride but am scared to death of it. I hate not knowing what's inside the building>LOL I will do the morning ride thank you very much for the info.

I've heard of at least one ride vehicle that is programmed to give a more intense experience, but it is supposedly available all day, not just in the later hours.

I suppose it's possible that the ride could be programmed to step up a few notches as the day goes by. But, it wouldn't surprise me to hear that the employee was just pulling your leg.

The reason I'm skepticle is that I have noticed that just within myself that rides (other than Spider-Man) seem different to me at different times of day or from day to day when I know they haven't changed at all. It could be that I haven't eaten, just ate, have a headache, just don't feel good, feel great, having fun, not having fun, in a bad mood, in a great mood...

Earl, can you enlighten us? :)

I noticed with Spiderman that not all the "effects" work on every ride. Therefore, it seems like each ride is different. I know there were things missing on certain rides we took last month.

Rest assured that there is only one Spiderman show. The comments by the operator are incorrect. They cannot select the intensity of the show. One car has improved yaw mechanics that allow it to perform slightly better than the others. The other cars will be converted soon.

There is a significant difference on what a rider feels based on seat position. The center row is the tamest, and the outer corners are the most extreme. That may be what you felt.

Well, I don't know. It wasn't just that one night, we went back another night too.

I should have been more specific, the actual ride was the same, it was the 3-D effects that were different with the villians. During my evening rides, the villians were more up in my face. They seemed farther away in the morning.

The 2 times in the morning we were in the first two rows of the car and the 2 times in the evening, we were in the last 2 rows.

But, you are the experienced ones. I wish we could find someone who really knew. This was our first trip to IOA. And it was so cool.

I wish we could find someone who really knew.

That would be Earl. :)

He works at Universal Orlando. We are very lucky to have him and a couple other employees (notatourist is another) who answer many of our questions here and provide us with some upcoming news.

Being regulars here, we sometimes forget that some newer guests don't already know that.

Isn't Spider-Man just an incredible ride? :D

Yes, I guess Earl would know then. I'll be away for a week, so I may not find out until I get back. But whatever the case may be those night rides I took were way cool.

Oh, we just loved Spiderman. My daughter and I went on this trip alone (she's 14) and it is so cool that she doesn't mind using the single-rider line. Since we weren't staying on Universal property, this was the next best thing to FOTL. Most of the time, we ended up sitting together anyway.

She said they was embarrassed to admit it, but she even loved the Cat in the Hat.

We did Disney and Universal for 10 days and by far, her favorite place was IOA.

Thanks for the compliments. Riding Spiderman can be like watching a good movie. Sometimes you get caught up or laugh so hard during a scene, that you miss part of the next one. Unless you really know the ride, it's pretty difficult to see every effect on one ride through. There are few that are pretty obscure, but impact other things. Of course, some if it's done on purpose.

I'm glad you had a good time and enjoyed Spidy. All of us hope you keep of kepp coming back, to the park and the board.

:D

It is really great to get an insider's perspective on the Spidey ride experience. I couldn't even count the number of times we have ridden it in the three trips we had since IOA opened. I'm astounded at how different the ride is each time. The richness of detail is such that you can always find something new. Even if there isn't supposed to be a difference between a morning ride and an evening ride, maybe I'll make it my mission next vacation to compare, just in case.

Moley

And next time you ride, keep your eyes peeled for any available retail space for sale... and dont be afraid pick up the phone and investigate! :) It's one of my favorite "secrets" of the ride!

Does that phone number still work? I called it about a year ago and it was disconnected. :(

Isn't the phone number 243-4813? I've never called it, but always wondered what it was to...

Is the "we will be closed until further notice, or at least until Spider-man makes our city safe again" message the original?

Yeah, I didn't know for sure... I had about the numbers jumbled up in my head.

It used to be that if you called the phone number with a 407 area code, it said something like:

"Thank you for calling the Excalibur Theater. Due to attacks by the Sinister Syndicate, we are closed, or at least until Spider-Man cleans up the place."

Barry, that's the current message. I was just wondering if it used to be longer. Sounds like it is the same.
