My Southwest flight went down in price today, yay!

I went through my normal flight-price check routine this morning, going to SW and Alaska (b/c Alaska has a program to give credit without a fee as well, which no one seems to know about), and while Alaska continues to rise, SW went down!

I had some adrenaline-filled moments, and one false move where I thought I was changing it, but it didn't get changed, but I prevailed against the website, and got those credits. Just $24 per person, but that's OK! Our usual flight is to CA, not cross-country, and that will make it easier for us to have a Disneyland trip. :)

Anyway, check your Southwest fares, especially if you're flying soon! We fly out on Nov 30th, which has been blocked from all the sales the last few months. So I was surprised!

Mine did too!! I'm going to WDW Dec 14-19 and in the last few weeks both ways have gone down! Today my return flight went down $22! And times 3 tickets - that's a nice little chunk of change :) Now I need to book another trip!!!

My family (of 5) is flying with Southwest next month. If the fare goes down, how do you get the difference? Do you have to return it and rebook?

I have to say that I've been VERY HAPPY with Southwest. After I booked the flights, my son found out that they absolutely need him to work the last two days of our trip. Because I got a non-refundable ticket, I thought I would have to lose that money and pay for a new return ticket for them. Or pay a $100 fee to change (like I've had to do with other airlines). But they let me exchange it with no extra cost (except for the small fare difference). It wasn't easy to do online alone (I had to call a couple times for help) but I have no complaints. I love LUV.

I had a mis-step where I thought I had "modified" my reservation, but I hadn't. I think, from reading another thread where it's mentioned, that I missed a final "continue" that would have actually changed the reservation.

As I was doing this, my adrenaline was pumping, so I didn't want to go back and try to modify my reservation again.

So I opened a second window, made sure I was still logged in, got to the flight I wanted with the price that had lowered, got to the page where I'd be paying... Jumped to the original window, canceled my reservations (using the confirmation number of the original flight booking), took the cancelation number (same as the original confirmation number, FYI) by copying it, went to the other window, pasted that into the Ticketless Travel Funds spot in the payment area, then went on to purchase the tickets. Whew.

At the end I had the exact same flight as we had before (we could have changed flights, but this one worked best for us), and I had $24 for each of the three of us waiting for a future trip (good for a year from the *original* booking date, AND as of late January ONLY good to be used for the named person, which is different from how it has been). :)

Thank you so much!

My flight isn't until June, but it was at $212 one way since booking opened up. It dropped to $129 today! I booked four tickets, so it really added up.

What a shame, I had to add a day to our reservation during free dining so now we will have a no-park rest day. We've never done that before, we always do 10 days straight... The airfare difference was almost $400 and our value room for one night is about $140 (and we are on free dining, so no added meal cost). Tuesday didn't have enough seats left, but Wednesday did

Edited to add: I hadn't actually booked the flight yet. I was hoping airfare would go down before I booked. I know I could get credit for the difference, but I don't plan to be flying within a year of when I booked, so I didn't want credit. I did have $17 (x3) flight credits I got to use to book my return flight.

Oh how fun to add a day! I've heard that no-park days are VERY important, and I hope we can remain strong and actually include some of those in our trip!

How exciting that your price already dropped, too. My fare did nothing but rise until yesterday, and like I might have mentioned, was blocked out from the 3 or so sales they had since June (when I booked). Nov 30 is just too close to Thanksgiving, and they wanted to charge the world.

Congrats Molly!

I thought Alaska charged a $75 change fee (or something like that) per person, but if there is a way around that, let me know! :thumbsup2
