My Southwest Airlines game I play....

How can you tell if a credit you buy on ebay is legitimate? And Southwest is okay with using other people's credits? We don't fly much, only if we have to, This year I'll be taking the kids alone to WDW, and we're going to fly because there's no way I'm driving that far (that's dh's look out he loves to drive).

Thanks for this thread. Any info on the above would be appreciated.
Julie

I sold my SW credit to my neighbor for a lower price. All she needed was my confirmation # and last name. She booked her trip without any problems.

You have to go by the person's previous feedback and I wouldn't buy a huge credit no matter what. You would have to buy what you feel comfortable with.

I play the game too. We are going again in 38 days and can't wait!

I got $47 each way last year, PHL to MCO.

We're big DING fans and have played 'the game' a few times. Once we saved a total of $400 when a few of us flew to WDW and that was from a very reasonable fare to start.

In December I got a ding that saved me $140 total if we flew a day earlier. No problem. I got a deal on a room at Pop. My daughter and I spent the day at Downtown Disney doing Christmas shopping and seeing a movie. We checked out of Pop the next morning, the Disney folks moved our luggage to Caribbean Beach and our 'real' vacation began. We had a blast. We would have had to borrow park time to visit DTD if we'd stayed to our original schedule.

We're using our current DING savings for a trip to Chicago. :thumbsup2

Just a note of caution, when you rebook and get a credit it will expire 1 year from the date of your original booking. They no longer extend free for 6 months there is a $50 charge to extend past 1 year. Also, if you use that credit as part of a payment on a new flight and have to cancel, the total amount now expires on the orignal expiration date. I had this happen so just be aware of your expiration dates.

I play this game too! Although I fly out of San Antonio and will book a flight if it is around $99 each way. Then, through Dings! and regular sales my fares always go down. And I stay open to changing my flight to Tampa if the money saved is greater than the gas used to drive to WDW. I started this next trip at $198 RT, am now down to $160 RT and still watching fares like a hawk. For a nonstop flight-you can't beat this game!

I do the same on rental cars too!

:thumbsup2

My family of four is flying from Detroit to Orlando via spirit airlines next week for a TOTAL ( including taxes, fees etc) of $142!!! and thats not even the best deal I got this year to Orlando. We flew down back in January for $65 total.... Incredible I know. Spirit has some crazy sales. The one back in January was called "we'll pay you to fly". Our fares were negative 4 dollars per person lol. The taxes and fees were the only reason we had to pay anything :) Obviously they dont sell all the seats at those prices, but if you happen to catch their emails when they come and book fast you can get some crazy deals, even in these days of insane oil prices. Like all things too good to be true though, you can't make free changes to your itinerary on Spirit like you can on Southwest. You would pay boooocooo $$$. Not a problem if you don't plan on changing, but you should definitely be aware of the cost to do so before you book.

Oh and I just discovered this site today and have already learned a ton about Disney that will be very useful next week. Thanks to all of you who have made this site so informational. :)
