My son is attending college here in the Northeast and he was asked by his ART HISTORY PROF if he and one other student would like to spend their summer in GREECE (Priniatikos Pyrgos)!! WELL he found out today he has the GRANT to be able to go over July 1 - August 15, 2006. He will be doing "excavations" (DIGS) while over there. He is so pumped. The GRANT does NOT kick in until the students are there. In any event I am asking if anyone knows of any cheap air fare web sites I can use to get son and his college partner their airline tickets. The grant will include housing, meals and his travel. I would like to get the best deals I can. WHEN son is done, instead of coming home to MA on August 15th he will head to the University of Glasgow in Scotland for a "semester abroad"! So after Greece, I need to get him alllllll the wayyyyy to Scotland. YIKES!!! This sounds cumbersome. But as his parents we HAVE to allow him to do this, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity. He is an Eagle Scout so he has allot of scouting experience under his belt. Of which the knowledge he has learned as a scout will certainly benefit son as he travels throughout Europe.

ANYONE WHO HAS ANY ADVICE FOR ME AND DH, I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU!!! DID YOUR COLLEGE DS' or DD's study abroad???

MANY THANKS!!

Wow, what an incredible opportunity for your DS!!! :thumbsup2

I wish I had some great advice on airfare deals, but the only thing I can give is emotional support

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity, yea for your son! :cool1:

A lot of my friends who have traveled abroad have found great deals on cheaptickets.com and studenttickets.com.
What a great opportunity for him - I'm super jealous!!

I don't know where to get cheap tickets.

But my college roommate was from Greece. The pictures she showed me, gorgeous. Your son should have a wonderful time. Send him with lots of memory cards because Greece is breathtaking. I do know that she used to fly Lufthansa. She would fly from Athens to Germany then to the US. She was also a poor college student so the fares must not be too bad, but I don't know how much she actually spent.

I also had a friend take a semester abroad in Greece. She loved it. She has been dying to go back ever since. I think your son will really enjoy his stay there. It's a chance of a lifetime! Congrats to him!!

THANK YOU THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR THE KIND WORDS!

Thank you as well for those web sites. It will be a great starting point for me as I start my search.....I am excited for son but as his mom, I am also very nervous. He leaves me July 1, 2006 and will not be back until Jan 1, 2007. He is a good, smart kid BUT still I have my concerns as any parent would. DH is thrilled to pieces and is trying hard to convince me this is AWESOME!!! I know it will be, but you mom's out there know where I am coming from. He just turned 20y.o. so I know he is not too young for this experience. He traveled for 3 weeks at Xmas, London, Paris, Rome alone with just one other college friend and they did fabulous.....so hopefully that will happen with Greece and his ultimate TREK to Scotland. DH plans on going over AFTER the "DIG" to get him settled into school.

ME: I do not fly well...I JUST make it to Disney from MA.!!!! :rolleyes2

What a wonderful experience for your son!! It will be something he will never forget! I did a summer abroad program in college in Paris, France. It was one of the best things I have ever done and I will definitely encourage all of my children to do some sort of summer abroad program.
