My Slow Divorce from Walt Disney World

In terms of the actual ride I disagree. Pooh's Hunny Hunt in Tokyo Disneyland opened in 2000 and uses the same trackless system as Rise of the Resistance. In terms of the whole package (the stuff before the ride + the ride), I agree.
Most Americans don’t go to Tokyo DL so they wouldn’t know.

I agree with you except you are in less then the minority. The technology on that ride is one of a kind. Anybody can build a roller coaster.
I mean that's a bit of a backhanded compliment. I say I'm in the minority in not thinking the ride is all that and you're like "nope you're even less than a minority"..alrighty then. That tells me everything. Have a good night!

Even when you agree with that poster they gotta say something negative lol

The trackless aspect isn't new stuff. We honestly like the CM level of commitment into the roles and the shuttle with the queue more than the ride itself. Just us though of course :)

For every 100 people claiming they are going to divorce only about 5 of them will follow through and those 5 will be replaced by 10 new guests.
So true. I get this is a “I hate WDW thread“so saying anything positive about a new ride is going to be met with snide remarks. I can say after being at Epcot the last two days people were ecstatic about the ride. The same holds true for Hagrids and Velococoaster at Universal. All great rides. I hope when Universal opens up their new park they graveyard the screen rides. They have way too many garbage screen rides.

I agree both those coasters are fantastic , but not comparable to Rise, MiMRR, or Remi. The are totally different experiences. I enjoy all types of rides when they are well done.
I disagree. For me Rise sucks mainly due to seeing other cars while I am riding. For me trackless rides can only go so far. The thing thats missing from trackless rides and most dark rides is physically feeling of it that you get in a coaster.

Look they have come along way with technology for these rides but it come no where near what they have done with coasters in terms of boundaries and G forces.

I can say the same about Disney. Far too many dark rides.

Personally I would argue that Hagrid's is better than Mickey and Minnie Runaway Railway and Remy, but I know that isn't a popular opinion. I'm a bit biased since Runaway Railway is kind of a sore spot for me. It replaced the Great Movie Ride, a ride I really loved for it's creativity and my introduction to a lot of classic movies. I don't hate Railway but replacing a ride with animatronics and physical sets for a ride that is mostly screen based doesn't sit well with me. To each their own. I will not criticize other people's enjoyment of Disney attractions.

Yes that is true that most Americans will not go to Tokyo Disneyland, but it doesn't take away from the fact that the innovation of a trackless ride system was done 22 years ago and isn't exactly a novel concept. The combination of the preshow elements and the trackless ride system is what makes Rise unique.

I'm not trying to start any arguments. I was just pointing out that Rise didn't exactly invent anything new. I enjoy the ride and am not trying to provoke anyone. I like Rise and think it's a great addition to the Disney parks. I just think rides like Velocicoaster and Hagrid's are more fun to me personally. If anything I believe Hagrid's is the ride that had more innovation than any ride in the past few years. No other coaster has done what Hagrid's has.

We’ll you said many times your a rollercoster person. That’s not Disneys market. If you go with young kids you’ll understand why.

I just went to Cedar Point with a young kid and she enjoyed it. Disney isn't the only game in town for those with littles.

I agree Hagrids and velociocoater are more fun, but I like variety. My stomach can only handle so many thrills.

Im just curious do you ever plan on visiting Disney?
I want to take my child at some point. Right now with the way the parks are I have no interest. Genie+, the reservation system and the cuts I have no interest in returning right now.

Right now my interest is getting maximum use of my free Cedar Fair pass.

When was the last time you were at Disney though?

I know you weren't :flower3: was just saying even if you (general you) agrees it was met with a negative, makes the conversation not quite as enjoyable. No one here is trying win over anyone anyhow just giving our opinions :)

VelociCoaster a lot of levels with the thrill seekers and one thing I did like is as a non-rider I still could sit and watch everyone else enjoy the coaster in part because how close it gets to the area and that part where it literally goes over the pathway and I also got to hear some of the sounds of the area like the raptors making some noise and all. When I was more seeking shade there are some places to sit out of the sun just where people exit and where you can go into the lower level of the Discovery Center.

Hagrid's is great just too intense for me to go on again but I adored the queue and I really loved all those launches which I think is the most maybe? I can't remember I thought I read something about that but it was just go go go. It's a great non-screen based ride very welcomed over at Universal. I think the ride vehicle is a cute edition just adds a touch there and for many it changes how the ride feels for them. I only rode in the sidecar though.

It doesn't matter to me at all - was just curious. I think you understood why I asked though.
Yes I understand. I do hate on the Mouse a lot. A lot of that is due to product they are putting out right now. A smaller part is due to the hate some Disney fans have for other parks that aren't Disney.

Its all good. I respect your view point and candidness as I would with anyone else wanting an honest dialog!

Thanks. I'm trying to be better about the negativity but it's hard due to how Disney treats their parks right now. Being a Cedar Fair pass holder and how they treated me through Covid by extending my pass 2 years. On top of that how simple it is to visit their parks and use their skip the line system its hard to be positive about Disney.

Part of my problem is I never grew up on the parks. I went a few times as a kid but it never was a family tradition like many of you here. I grew up on places like Cedar Point. That has become my family tradition.

I agree. That is an aspect that I like about WDW in comparison to Universal. More breathing room for non thrill rides and this is coming from someone that loves coasters/thrill rides. I like that there is more variety.

I get that. I rode Velicicoaster for the first time on my May trip and I loved it so much that I immediately got on line to ride again. Even now when I'm sitting in my bed at home I kind of miss it. I don't "miss" any ride at WDW as much as I do Velocicoaster. It is THAT fun for me. The first time I rode it I forgot to take my glasses off so I was holding onto them for dear life the entire time xD I do commend Universal for building a coaster in such a tight space that is still probably the best coaster I have ever ridden in my entire life.

Hagrid's is just pure fun like I said in my other post. I grabbed a beer from Three Broomsticks and chilled on the line to make the hour wait seem less awful. The hour wait was totally worth it to me. It is the most unique coaster I have ever been on. I love that it is a non screen experience with physical sets and animatronics. I love that Universal is taking feedback from it's criticism from mainly screen based attractions and innovating with fun, creative experiences.
