My sister called my Mom last night to tell her about her rotten day. Her FIL tried to get up yesterday and started yelling for his wife to help him. One side of his body was paralyzed. He thought he was having a stroke. When the ambulance took him to the hospital, they determined that the cancer he had last year that caused him to have one lung removed had spread to his other lung and has spread to his brain. This is what caused the temporary paralysis. The only reason he made it through the night was because he was on oxygen. The drs have suggested to the family to make a decision about whether they want the oxygen stopped so he can pass. My BIL and his brother were out of town for business and didn't get in until last night to find out this news.
My sister decided to go to her in-laws house to make dinner so everyone could at least reheat it when they arrived home. Her BIL was sitting at the table with their handyman who was "baby sitting" him. Her BIL almost drowned when he was younger and has the mental abilities of a 4 yo, although he's in his 30s, so he can't be left alone. One of his chores is to add wood to the fire in their kitchen. The handyman decided to help him since he was understandalby upset that his Dad went to the hospital. He said when he added the wood, there was a funny crackling noise. He called the fire department and they came and put out the chimney fire. Luckily, it remained in the chimney and didn't spread.
A while later, her SIL comes home. She went to the dr and found out that the cyst she has on one of her ovaries has grown 3X bigger than it was a month ago. She has to go for more tests later this month and the dr wants to do a complete hysterectomy on her.
Please say a prayer for her family. It's one thing to take one sucker punch... quite another to be hit 3X in one day. I hope that G-d gives them the strength to make a decision about her FIL that will give them peace once he is gone.
