I was worried about her, so I called. she said the park was busy and they were closing at 7pm they did cancel spectro and wishes for tonight, but all the CM's are relaxed about Jeanne. A fellow Diser (palmtreegirl) she wanted me to tell you that the parks are still open and they are still letting people check into the hotels! It's a little windy, but the suns out and the babershop quartet on main street is singing "let's go fly a kite"!!!!

I will keep updating this post as I hear more from her "live from WDW"

9/25 4:50 Eastern time: Ok, I've heard that the parks will be closed tomorrow from other posts on the board, but haven't confirmed that with my sister, when I know more, I will fill you in!

6:28: She just called me from outside the hauted mansion (DS "I don't like that ride") it's been raining on and off for a while but the sun keeps poping in and out. the park is "dead" She hasn't heard anything concrete as far as park closings for tomorrow, but has heard rumours. SeaWorld and Universal are both closed tomorrow so my guess is WDW will be too. Everything closes at 7pm not fireworks tonight. She is going to check in later back at the room from AKL. More updates to come!

10:00: "There is a band in the lobby and everyone is dancing" She sounds like she's haveing a great time!! There are still kids in the pool and she was on her balcony eating pizza!! AKL is gonna keep everything going as long as possible (pool, food, band ect.)

11:00: It started to rain, but not a lot of wind yet, still on the balcony eating a Zibbra mound! Kids are watching finding nemo!

11:00 am: The Mara was closed this am but both restaurants are open and serving all meals or you can get a bag meal in the lobby. "the rain is sideways and the palm trees are holding on for dear life!" The CM's are doing a great job, and the kids are still watching Disney movies. She said you can bearly hear anything inside her room, you don't really know theres a hurricane outside unless you look for it. The band is still playing in the lobby and they have arts and crafts set up for the kids! some sad news though.... Local TV down there is showing Vero Beach and the roads are rivers. the storm surge was terrible and everything is flooded. Pray for those poor people!

8:49pm: I'm on the phone with her now and she said it is still windy with strong gusts but the rain is finally stopping! The Mara opened at 5 and Boma and Jiko were open all day. "the cm's have been working their *beep* off! they have been incredible!" The lobby was hopping the whole time with activities for the kids and adults! Pooh and Chip and Dale have been there for hours!! They are still holding the educational classes in the lobby to record attendance, including Pooh and Chip and Dale!! My sister also said that they are beginning to clean up already! "These people are animals! It's still pretty windy!" She said as you walk down the hallways, you can't pass a cm without them asking if you are ok and if you're having a good time. She said she's never seen anything like it! She said she also heard some cm's singing bob marley's "don't worry about a thing" during lunch to keep the atmosphere lite and fun!
Govenor Jeb Bush stated during a news conference that he is worried about the hit on tourism, and is encouraging people not to cancel their vacation plans! They need the tourism dollars to help their economy!!

I have read some posts today of people canceling trips, to them I say: anyone who is thinking of canceling out of respect for the people of florida, you are actually only hurting them by not going! they need your tourism dollars to survive. Go! WDW is fine! have fun and don't forget to hug mickey!!

Midnight: well they are calling it a night! The wind has died down and the rain has stopped!!! she said she heard on TV that MCO is not accepting flights until 10am. the parks are open tomorrow and clean up at the AKL has been going on since the last update and will continue through the night as well as clean up at the parks! Just goes to show you, NOTHING can stop Disney world from making magic!!!

Please send my sister and her family and everyone in florida some positive vibes to get through the storm ok!:umbrella: :umbrella: :umbrella:

PD and lots of prays going there way, I just can't imagine what they are going through again. I sure hope and pray this will be the last one.

{{{{{{VIBES}}}}}} Thanks for the update, it's good to have "insider" info, I don't always trust the TV.

I'm concerned that people are taking this one too lightly since there wasn't days of buildup like the other hurricanes. It's been reported on the weather channel that many people are ignoring orders to evacuate coastal areas and are choosing to ride it out at home. It's a category 3, a major hurricane and possibly strengthening. If you are in that area, please stay safe!

I don't believe for a moment that CM's are relaxed about Jeanne. They are putting on their best faces for the guests.

I am sure that many of them are worried about their homes and families. CM's go the distance to provide a good experience for the guests even when a hurricane is raging.

That's awful about people ingnoring the evac orders. I've heard that there are lots more deaths here in the panhandle from Ivan. . they just quit reporting them. :(

People need to be wiser.

from POFQ.
Thanks to all the cm's for making it easier on us here. We stopped at Goodings at the crossroads and it was busy. A lot of people buying food and supplies. POFQ food court will probably be closed through tomorrow morning.
Some light winds and light rain right now.

We are in the Contemporary listening to the wind howl outside our window. We are on the 9th floor of the Tower, the end room with a great MK view.

Everything was to shut down tonight. However, the food and fun center states that it is operating with normal hours - meaning the snack shop will be open all night. I bet it does not though, as the wind and rain are really picking up now. The CM's here have kept us informed of events with flyers and phone calls. People are stocking up preparing for a few meals in their rooms.

We will post later as the storm progresses.

Everyone stay safe.

Everyone in Florida whether at WDW or elsewhere in the path of Jeanne stay safe.

Its 9:44 PM and the wind is howling outside. My windows are making funny noises. It sounds like I am inside the Haunted Mansion.

My husband had to go to work at Orlando International Airport (left at 8:30PM) tonight and called me and told me that there were a lot of trees down. Lights are already going out.

I am sitting here at my computer because I am basically scared to smithereens. I don't know how to turn on the generator. My husband showed my 11 yr. old how to do it and hopefully he will and won't blow up the house.

Right now they have tornado warnings and they are saying that it will head straight to Orlando. Right now winds from the outer bands are at 100 mph.

No matter what, we have to tough it out. A lot of the companies here fired a lot of workers for not reporting to work as they stayed home to secure their residences and get their families ready. Florida Hospital fired about 11 nurses. Some Police Departments fired some of their police officers.

The weathermen ( who was been on the money so far with all the other hurricanes) said that we will have a major hit by 3 to 4AM with winds gust over 140 mph with 90 mph in Kissimmee. She is making landfall right now. So lets brace and I will let you know how I make out.

I am a little concerned because we had some water during the last one and the builder was supposed to come out an check it out and fix it, but nothing so far.

Hopefully, we will be okay. I know we are going to lose power, but for how long I don't know. As soon as I get back on I will post what happens.

Take care and good night to everyone. Your prayers are needed now.

Pigsty333 , stay safe. I am waiting to lose power here. Hopefully we can all make it through the hurricane without much damage.

What kind of a state is Florida?

Advertising going out that Florida is not all boarded up and would the tourists please keep coming.

Police departments firing officers taking care of personal matters leaving not enough officers on the streets to arrest and jail people for violating curfew?
