My sister is getting married again...

One of our go-to wedding gifts is picture frames. So the bride and groom can frame their wedding pictures. Doesn't have to be expensive.

I'd do a card with a generic message that wishes them happiness in their life together. But a bottle of wine sounds good - its consumable - which for people in the 50s that you barely know and have established households, makes it ideal - and if they don't like it, they bring it to the next party they go to and leave it.

But I'm not sentimental and spent my morning tossing crap people have given me

How about a wedding invitation candle? I made my own. It would make a nice keepsake. http://www.chandlerscandle.com/wedding-invitation-candles/

The invite came via a text message....And - since I know that crud my sister pulls - the date will change 2 or 3 times between now and when they get married. They've only been engaged for a month. And - are looking at a May wedding. So - I do not anticipate actually seeing an invite...

Forgive me, but it seems you have been given several nice, generic suggestions that would work in your case (gift card, picture frame, wine, even nothing at all)

Are you wanting instead to talk about your sister who you aren't close to, who drains you emotionally, who is likely to change her date, etc., etc.,???

Because among all the nice, general wedding gift suggestions (as requested in your original post) your only responses seem to me like a fishing expedition.

Would you rather vent about your sister??? It's okay if that's what you want. But why mask it as "looking for gift suggestions"?

Lots of people have crickets now. its a scrapbook machine that you can cut out names ect on contact paper and then put that on wine glasses and a few bottles of wine and use etching cream, to etch there names on. nice cheap gift. You can put the date on beer bottles or live, laugh, love on three wine bottles. Ask at a scrapbook store. The cream is about $8 a bottle and contact paper is $3.00. Have fun.

My 60 year old sister got married last summer. Instead of a gift, I made a donation to her favorite charity. It worked for us!

This is what I was thinking but you put it much more eloquently than I ever would have.

edited.

Because my rant finally got if off my chest after all these years.

Joint trip to Disneyworld for you two to catch up.

Join Groupon or Amazon local for deals. Lots of things like the "home is where your story begins" sign a pp mentioned. Just buy one....

Even without a Cricut, you could etch a plate...go to Walmart. Buy a glass plate, stick on letters (largest size possible) and some etching cream (might have to go to Michaels or Hobby Lobby). Stick the letter on the plate, be SURE to get all the edges down. Spread the etching cream over the plate, letter and all. Leave it on for about 15 minutes (the directions are on the bottle) and wash it off. Then peel the sticker off. You might need Goo Gone to remove some of the sticky (or rubbing alcohol). You can probably buy a large initial sticker online if they don't have one at Walmart.

A bottle of champagne and a nice card is always good. And it is what I will get my sister if she gets married again. ;)
