7 weeks old. I have not seen them yet, but of course, as soon as i heard she got 2 puppies,I knew what they were...MASTIFFS. Have you seen a Mastiff? They are HUGE. She used to own 2 of them 20 years ago. Always said she wanted another one, so now her youngest (twins are almost 17), she figures now is a good time to chase babies again. LOL

Here is a picture of a Mastiff. Not her's, but to give you an idea.

My SIL had a Mastiff and it was the sweetest, most gentle dog except for the tail. They got it from the pound and his tail wasn't docked. I am usually not a fan of docking tails but this thing was LETHAL. The dog broke a window in their house just by wagging his tail.

Well...if she's not crazy now, I'm thinking that trying to potty train two big puppies might just put her over the edge!!! :rotfl:

She's a better woman than me! ;)

They are SUPER protective of children, I can tell you that 1st hand.

My sister got Sam shortly after she got married. I was 10yo when she got married. I was about 12 when this happened. I was spending the weekend, and playing Scrabble with her and my BIL. Sam was sitting between me and my BIL watching the game. Being 12, I did not have the broad vacabulary an adult would have, so I kept making 3-4 letter words. Not much to build off of, you know? BIL kept telling to make bigger words, but I would just put down the first word I could make, without really concentrating on what I had for letters. ( I am a MUCH better Scrabble player today, LOL). Anyway, I put down another 3 letter word, and my BIL raised his fist in frustration, he was not going to hit me, he was just extremely frustrated, he raised his fist as if to say "I want to knock your head off". Sam wasted no time, he jumped up, growled at BIL, and grapped his wrist in his mouth. He did not bite him, but it was like he was saying, there is no way you are hitting this kid. We were ALL amazed. Sam was HIS dog, I was just an occasional visitor, and he came to my defense. I will never forget it.

We used to have some friends who had two Great Danes. They ran and jumped on the bed one day while playing with her grown brother who lived with them, and it collapsed!

Oh my gosh- I'm all for big dogs - but 2 at one time??? Wow- I don't want to have to think about the housebreaking!!!!

P.S.- Marie - I met Rick Springfield this past weekend!

:earseek: She has lost her mind. I grew up with Saint Bernards, which are similar in build. Mastiffs are great dogs, but oh man...good luck with that

Well... at least she won't have to worry about separation anxiety because the puppies will amuse each other.
but wow that's a lot of dog!

Yeah, my experience in the past has been that two puppies (kittens, etc.) will occupy themselves much better than one, but then I've never had dogs that size before! :)

I haven't housebroken a dog in years (we got our dogs when they were adults), but if you're going to be housebreaking it wouldn't be too much harder with 2. Of course it would be twice as messy, but when a person brings one outside, they just bring them both. I can't imagine cleaning up all that poop when they are adults, though. Our dogs are bad enough and they are not large dogs. :teeth:
