Hi!

First I'll start with my jeans shopping this morning. I need another pair of jeans, so I headed to the mall. I hit GAP first, and rifled through all the "current, hip, dirty-looking, ripped" jeans to find the "normal, blue, buttons OVER the belly button" jeans. Tried on a size 2 just for kicks, and was surprised they fit. Surprised enough to almost buy them, just for the size, but for $40, I don't think so!

So, off to BonTon. Found a pair of Levi's 4's and tried them on. They fit nice and for $19.99, I though YEAH! At checkout, they turned out to be $29.99, so NO THANKS! And off I went again. Tried a few more stores with no luck.

Now I am bored... but still have 30 minutes before I pick up Abby from preschool so I see a sign for a Church clothing sale, starting today, and head over! There is a whole table of jeans! I sort through and find a pair of Old Navy jeans (size girls 16) and get this! a pair of Tommy Hilfilger jeans, size 4, that look brand new. Now I just saw a pair at BonTon ON SALE for $49.99 marked down from $65.00! These jeans were $5. I ended up getting two pairs of jeans for $8! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Ok, bored now? lol... my question about sugar is this... What is the best sugar you can eat to maintain weight but not lose. I know that refined white flour and sugar in donuts, breads, candy is very bad, but what is acceptable sugar?

Thanks for any suggestions and for reading about my boring morning!

zak, that is a funny story. Good for you on the size and the price! :teeth:

About the sugar. I really don't use any sugar anymore. I'm not a low carber, but I figure there is enough of the stuff in fruit and in any treat I may have. For things like coffee and anything else that one might add sugar to, I use Splenda. I really like it and since I save those calories, I can indulge in something else. I don't think I would use Splenda to lose weight, though if you are LC, it is a must. I would use it so I could eat other yummy things and not feel guilty about it.

Keep the Faith!

I would slowly add back 'sugars' in the form of carbohydrates from fruit, whole grains like oatmeal, flax etc, and extra lower carb veggies, and maybe a few higher carb veggies like peas, corn, sweet potatoes and carrots. Being careful to only add one or two items a day to see how your body reacts.

Congrats on the TEENY jeans and the TEENY price! Woo-hoo!!!! Nothing better than a bargain that flatters your new figure!

Can you try using fructose instead of sugar if you need to? I don't ADD sugar to anything anymore, but I will still eat products that contain sugar (like BBQ sauce or salad dressing, etc.)

Splenda is GREAT! Have it in my tea every morning, YUM!

We found a great sugar free maple syrup made with Splenda. Only like 10 calories for 1/4 cup serving (compared to regular maple syrup which was like 200+ for the same serving size).

Good luck, Karen! I think if you do a search on diabetes you might be able to find some good sugar alternatives.:sunny:

Great job on that size jeans!

Im currently having a jeans dilemma. My new size 12s that I bought a few months ago would be falling off me if it wasnt for those hip bones. So Ive been looking for 10s. Finding those dirty looking jeans - nope. Finding the low rise jeans that gap in the back - nope. Finding the jeans for over $30 - nope, not me.
So my latest thought is going on the cruise with my casual work pants and leaving all jeans at home!

Wow! I couldn't get over the size you were saying!! A size 2 or 4. You are 5'5" and 110 pds? Was 173 what you started at? How long did that take? Are you a low carber? I just started Atkins recently and have been losing better then I was before. I was 144 back at the beginning of June and now am 130. 4 pounds lost since Atkins, I had lost 8 but went off just to check out the difference in how I felt and gained 4 back. I'm planning on sticking stict with Atkins till I reach my goal of 120. I'm 5'4" though and thought 10 more pounds was probably all I needed to lose but now you got me wondering...::yes::
