I'm so bummed. I spent over a year planning our vacation for my family of 6, and it did not go as planned. After spending one wonderful day at MK (10-4), my ds started running fever. The next day we took him to the urgent care clinic, and he tested positive for the flu. By that evening my oldest son was running fever too. During the night my youngest two kids started running fever as well. Dh and I decided it'd be best for our kids to be home, so we left early in the morning to make the long drive home. My kids were heartbroken to say the least. (Even now over a week later, the older kids have a hard time talking about Disney without tearing up.) The day we arrived home dh and I got the flu too. I know how lucky we are that everyone is okay now. Of course, everyone's health is most important. But, I'm depressed about the vacation that wasn't! We missed out on so much, and thinking about all that $$ down the drain makes me sick! Thank goodness for DIS, because at the time I was able to get some great advice on upgrading to non-expiration tickets.
Our day at MK was great. Yes, it was hot, and there seemed to be a lot of people. However, the lines were short! We waited only 10-15 minutes for most things. The longest line we waited for was BTMR and that was only 30 minutes. We were able to do almost everything in 1 day that I had planned for 2. In my head, I imagine that the whole week would have been like this one day- hot but manageable weather and low crowds. Now, we're looking at possibly going back in July. Depending on finances, I don't know if it will be July 2010 or 11 (which is waaaaay to far away!). I looked at crowd calendars for July and it makes me want to cry. Solid 9's for the week we're considering. Sigh. I won't even get started on what the weather will be like in July.
Please don't flame me. I'm really just venting and so disappointed with the way the our vacation turned out.

That is really about the saddest trip report I ever read.

I'm so sorry...that must have been awful for you all. Disney Magic is supposed to prevent things like that from happening *sigh*.
Hope your next trip is a thousand times better than this one ever could have been.
I am so sorry to hear your family got sick while at WDW.
DS4 got sick while we were at WDW last November. We took him to a great doctor in Celebration (I kept his card in case we need him in the future). Luckily, it was just DS4 that got sick. So, DH and I took turns taking the other kids to the parks. However, it didn't end up being the "family" vacation I had planned for either. But after reading your story, I am very thankful it was just DS4 ill.
We were at WDW this past June and the weather was hot and humid. Also, the crowds were crazy!!!!! 110 minutes stand-by for Test Track on a Thursday morning!!!!! Also, I don't recommend the month of July either because it gets even worse!!!! Personally, I'd try for October again next year (obviously before your tickets expire
). They are having unseasonably warm weather right now. So, next year might be the perfect blend of great weather and great crowds. JMO
