My party of 4 : husband, me and 2 kids 7 and 5 years old.
we have stayed at disney from october 24 - october 30 and then 4 days at HRH
just come back home a few hours ago

Well, we came during halloween bloody mary festival and the hotel decoration was NOT DISNEY at all
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

after 7 days of pixies and enchanting theme, a shock!

HRH is more a grown up hotel in my opinion.
Lots of people seem to dislike small children around there....
we were staying at the concierge level and felt that we were disturbing the atmosfere by bringign kids for 5-7pm offering time. Even if it was just fro grabbing a drink.

the second night was awfull, the guests staying in the adjoining room , were fighting all night long, screaming, and making so much noice...
We call the reception + concierge 2 times, and no one took actions.
We were laying in bed, waiting for the noice to stop, and we haven't slept at all.
The next morning we saw police officers, they were questioning guest in differents rooms...

the room : very small in comparison with disney deluxe hotels.... bathroom very small as well.
The pool is excellent, so beautiful , the slide was a hit with the kids
Universal was fun, not crowded, more peacefull than the disney parks, the rides excellent, but a lack of atmosfere and magic in comparison with disney

housekeeping : good

food : found the kitchen food good but not excellent

the service : good for adults, no efforts to understand children, very rock and roll staff

concierge : they book us for the halloween horror night on the 30/10, and book our children to the kids club.
Once we checked at the HRH kids club : closed! we had to rush them to the kids club of the hotel next door, and arrange for transportation at 10.00pm with tired kids, not fun
they barely appologized.

the hotel amenities are better than the disney ones : bars, pools, lobbies.... by far
but we felt more at home at disney, and the hotel staff was better as well.

so at the end, we had a better experience at disney , as our children are rather small

but this hotel should be the absolute blast for any teenagers and olders!

I'm not sure I will come back soon.

Isabelle

I'm sorry your experience went sour.

i totally understand the issues you went through there.

i have stayed at HRH 19 times and looking to stay at one of the other 2 hotels on my next trip.

i had that problem on one trip about 5-6 years ago of the room next day being out of hand with the noise.

i called the front desk and security at the hotel.
i had better outcome from doing that than what you did.

a lot has changed in those past years.

how did you like HHN?

LOL ,

I hated HHN....:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

well , everything was amazing, I'm sure you could not find on earth better halloween party, so much decoration, artists.....

but I hate horror movies, so entering a dark room and being attacked by monsters is not for me...
It was very crowded and I watched eveyting from the outside

My husband was not very pleased with me, because, he wanted to enjoy all the fun
So at the end , we came back to pick up the kids at the portofino hotel and went back to HRH
the lady screeming at the entrance of the park frightened me as well, hahahah

at least you can say you tried it and survived the night...........

i'm guessing this won't be on your list of things to do next time.....

Glad you had a good time, even if you hate horror movies, unfortunatley i cannot get time of to go at this time.
sorry to hear about the problems, nothing as bad as not being able to get sleeping, we had a similar problem at PBH , nothing was done, spoke with the manager the next morning as we where told he would call us, he knew nothing about it. stayed 1 more night , and was really quiet, before we moved back to RPR, and gave us a suite upgrade for the remainder of our stay. Noticed this year that security seems to be stepped up, as there was constant security patrols around the hotels in the evenings and during the night, or maybe i just never saw them before.

what dates were you at universal this year?

Try the Royal Pacific next time. Seems more "kid-friendly" to me.

And the scaredy cat in me won't even attempt HNN so big kudos for stepping foot in the place!

Thanks for sharing.

I have to disagree with the HRH being not suited to small children.

Out of the three on-site hotels we have found the HRH to be the most child friendly. My daughter (5) has stayed at the HRH every year since birth and a total of around 65 nights there. Everyone from the valet to the lifeguards has been fantastic with her. In fact she would much rather be in the HR pool than at Disney.

Sorry to hear about the rest of your trip.

I agree with you, HRH pool is fantastic :-)
I'm sure this is one of the most beautiful pool of orlando
the staff was nice in general

we will surely return to orlando in 2 years, next year we go to california.
If returning to universal , HRH will be my pick and we will book 2 rooms to have some additional space.Or evntually a deluxe room

what are your food options while staying at the HRH?
I did not find the kitchen very good...

i booked the double queen deluxe at hrh this past october.
it is cheaper than booking 2 separate rooms if you need more space.

there are only a couple of deluxe double queens on each floor.

you will be told when you book that you have to wait until you check in to get them.

i was able to book mine in advance and others have too.
it can be done.

the space was good with it but i don't remember how many people you said would be in your group.

you would have more space at pbh if you have 4 or 5 in your party.

i did the breakfast buffet at the kitchen and was satisfied with the buffet.
the breakfast buffet at RPH is really very good, maybe better.

i am not as fond of the lunch and dinner at the Kitchen though.
i got better deals at city walk for the evening.
