My Rant on Flag Sitting (feel free to imput)

I think it is a horrible thing and a last resort for ppl who just can't win any other way.

Ppl do this and it makes me like this guy>

People do it and it causes others to get less gold becuase the only way they can get it is by sinking both ships.

I have had it happen ever CtF game that i have played tonight and it is starting to drive me mad.

I like that it is an easy win but i dislike getting so few credits a game. (i only play pirates to get credits )seeing how many problems there are in pirates now, with the bad launguage and ppl calling each other cheat and other such problems

I agree it isn't cheating (since there is actually no way to cheat in VMK without hacking) but it just makes me mad how many people do it, becuase they think they can win

Yeah, that is one of two things in pirates (gameplay-wise, not language-wise) that really irritates me. The other thing is a "bug" or something that makes a ship not drop the flag when it gets destroyed. If it happens to the other team, that's fine, but it stinks when it happens to mine.

Similar to "Stay and Shooting." It doesn't really bother me if the other team does this. (I win have my CtF games because i sink all the ships instead of getting the flag) Besides, it's easy to sink the person who's sitting there.

Have to agree with you on this one. Flag sitting is my biggest pet peeve in Pirates. And I don't get why people even play capture, if they just try to kill everyone anyway without even bothering to try to get the flag! If you want to play battle, play battle!

I'll admit, sometimes I do flag sit. Mostly it's a last resort for when my other teammate get killed right away or clearly doesn't give a hoot how to play CTF and just wants to do his own thing without regards to the flag. Sadly, if the other team has already moved their flag and my teammate is clueless, that IS the only chance I have at winning. Sometimes they kill me and I still lose. I just figure whatever goes at that point.

Usually, I will guard the flag and move around and let the other person on my team get the flag. When they do, I go to help my team mate so if they lose the flag, we can pick it up quickly.

I've never purposely sat on the flag and I got my 300th win at Capture level three today. So you can win without flag sitting.

Honestly I try not to let anything in the game bother me anymore. I used to get mad but now it's like... what's the point? I tend to have a lot more fun if I laugh at the stuff, and I've noticed I win more when I'm relaxed.

Have you ever play capture the flag in real life?
Well when i was in grade school we didn't have capture the flag, we had capture the chicken.....don't ask me my teachers were strange..... i was always the guard b/c no way i would ever be fast enough for capturing that stupid chicken... though there was rules, the guard couldn't stand in the circle (there was a hula hoop placed on the ground where the bird sat in the middle of) nor touch the hoop....ok well over time there were techinques that me and the other kids would have found around this problem.... the teacher knew there was loop holes but never said anything until the kids found out about it. ok so i found out a way that was effective, chicken sitting... i would stand over the chicken, not touching the hoop, though there were alway at least two kids that would help out, there was about 20 kids on a team...lol we won every time.... ok

so my point of my little story is that if the rules don't say it, or nothing blocking it from flag sitting, there will always be flag sitting, it may be frustrating and feeling hopeless to go after the flag but, unlike my little story, we have cannons, it is very hard to stear at certain angles to get the guy, if you come at the right way you can bomb the flag sitting guy and get the flag....

Flag sitting only works for like 5 seconds because after that the "hydra" attacks your ship and you lose a health.

Besides don't you want to show that you still owned them even though they were on top of the flag?

If I see the other team is doing Flag sitting, I don't even bother trying to get the flag at first. I help guard my flag. When the sitter's team mate is destroyed, they usually have to move to try for the flag.

yea but if you shoot an opposing dead ship in CtF games then there ship blows up and you can get it

OMG I had capture the chicken too! Anyway I still usually win with flag sitters. I just kill them and get the flag. Once I was playing with Mal and a girl was flag sitting so I said that flag sitting should be against the rules. She said that it shouldn't. After we won she called me a "lose are" so I reported her after the game and told her. She said that she didn't care and that she reported me. I asked why and she said because I was trying to make up the rules. In most of my capture the flag games there is a flag sitter.

I have NEVER sat on the flag with over 600 wins combined between level 2 and 3. Sitting on the flag does NOT help you win. If some how you believe it does, you do not understand the dynamics of the game.

For the enjoyment of everyone - please - Get Off the Flag! (or we will just shoot you from behind till you sink). Your choice.

I'm not really bothered by it... I usually have the Pearl in CtF, so I usually circle the sitter shooting until he/she sinks... that always works for me.. if you can lure them off the flag, that also works
