My Quandry 7/11

Ok, here it is. DW and I have a deposit on VWL for 200 points (actually got all the paperwork today). We wanted to take advantage of MB before 4/1. We also are desperately trying to get a BWV resale for 200 to 250 points. If this were to happen we would just not move forward on VWL.

Here is my quandry. I have about 5 days to figure this all out and either get the paperwork back or cancel the VWL purchase. DW and I have 2 1/2 year old twins. I have seen all the posts that say buy where you plan to stay. But realistically, if you vacation in the months of Oct or early december, how difficult is it to get into a 2BR at BWV (standard or pref)? Does anyone have a story to give me hope should the resale not come thru over the next several days? We have been looking for well over a week.

Buy where you plan to stay ! Period. Do not rely on the 7 month booking window to book in to BWV if you are owning WLV points. No One Here or at MS can really answer your question as to how hard is it to book a 1 or two BR at BWV in Oct. or Dec.. At best the answer is a guess. However, if you call your home resort 11 months prior to departure, you have an excellant chance. But none of us can answer about BWV assuming you plan and book 7 months ahead of departure. Further, looking for a resale over a week is not a long time. If you call a broker and tell them what you want, you have a head start. Let's face the facts, BWV is sold out, therefore your chance of getting something on short notice is not good, but not immpossible.

Further MB only applies to purchases through Disney, not resales. But I think you know that. I think your real question to yourselves, is will you be happy at WLV, if you really want BWV.

Oct and early December are busy times for DVC. You'll find numerous posts here where folks have had difficulty getting into BWV early December. I own at OKW/BWV, and tried to add a day to our October trip at the 10 month window, and had to go on a waiting list. However, that's not to say it is impossible..I was able to secure HH, OKW and BWV less than 4 months for a May and September vacations.

If you have a favorite time to travel, I believe it is very important to have the 11 month booking window at the resort you wish to stay at.

If you want to book for early December at the BWV's, you should definitely buy there! The last two Decembers have been real hard to book that timeframe (that's the time we go)... That timeframe for BW sold out at about 10 month window... Some units even quicker than that.... So, my point? December is already booked by BW owners for this year!

If you want to go in September, you will have very few problems getting what you are looking for (we've done that too)... As for October, it might be a little busier than September, but still not near the level of December.....

Hope this helps! Have you tried all the resale brokers to look for a BW package? Wilderness is still a nice resort, but if you would prefer BW, I would buy at BW.....

Definitely buy where you plan to stay most so you can make your reservations 11 months ahead.

We bought two BW resale contracts one at at the end of last year and the other at the beginning of this year by contacting a broker and getting on their contact list for BW points. Each time, we were specific about how many points we wanted, so not just any resale would do. Becuase of that, we expected it to take a while for a contract to come along. The first time, our broker contacted us within a day with a fantastic deal! That was before BW was sold out by Disney. The second time, after BW was sold out, a great deal came along within two weeks.

We had finally come to terms with our home being VWL when a BWV came thru. Exactly, what we were looking for.
