Just raced my 1 yr old puppy to the vet........she ate a lot of choc. morsels....:( :( :( She has thrown up quite a lot....I'm hoping that will be a positive thing......

The vet is going to give her an IV and sedate her...

Keep your fingers crossed.....and maybe a few prayers...

Aww poor puppy. I hope she'll be alright. Update us when you can. :(

I hope your puppy gets better soon. It's so good you knew to take her to the vet--some don't know that chocolate can be dangerous. Let us know how she's doing. :(

Oh I hope your puppy will be ok! I remember when my dog got into my christmas presents under the tree and ate approx. half a bag of hershey's choc. kisses. Wrappers and all! I was so worried when I got home and found the mess. I called the vet and they said to keep an eye on him. Nothing ever happen....he must love his chocolate I guess!! Needless to say he has to stay in the bathroom with a baby gate now. He's been known to invade the trash when no one is looking also! Krazy dog I tell ya!!!

Best of luck with your baby!!!!

hope your puppy is ok!

keep us updated

{{{Hugs}}} to you and your puppy. She should be fine, especially since she's throwing up. Our dog once ate an entire batch of no bake cookies (the ones with cocoa powder, oatmeal, and peanut butter), and he was fine. We gave him peroxide to induce vomitting since we were leaving for WDW in 2 days and wanted him to be completely better before we left him with the housesitter, but I think he handled it better than we did. DH and I were heartbroken and feeling very guilty. The dog just threw up for a few hours and then hopped in our bed and went to sleep.

Thanks everyone for you kind words....

I'm waiting for the vet to call later today....

She just gets into everything....I feel so guilty....I had emptied my cabients to get rid of pantry moths and had but all the closed and botteled items in storage tubs......she unsnapped the lid and dug until she found the bag of choc morsels.....

i think she'll be ok. from what my vet told us when we had a similar incident -- it is much worse to have constant exposure to it. a one time incident (unless it's A LOT) probably won't have any lasting impact on your dog. :)

Ohhh...poor puppy! Don't feel guilty...it is amazing what puppies can get into! You were a good "Mom" taking hime to the vet so fast. Saying a prayer for your pup.

Chocolate morsels... is that like baking chocolate or milk chocolate? If it's milk chocolate, I wouldn't worry in the least. Sounds like she vomited pretty early on, too, thanks to your quick action. I'm sure she'll be ok. :)

It's good that she threw up. They get into things faster than you can blink, don't they?

Welcome home. How was your vacation?

My dog once ate 2 boxes of chocolate covered cherries at my mother and dad's house. She threw up and was fine. Just made her feel really sick.

Oh, they really DO get into everything!!!
My puppy is 20 weeks old and got into my purse, which I left on my bedroom floor. There was a Lady Godiva chocolate Bar in there a friend had given me. I was sitting in the kitchen, realized she was being a little too quiet and went running in to see where she was. I got the candy bar off her just in time. She's such a tiny little thing (4 lbs) it would have probably made her really sick.
You have to have eyes in the back of your head!

I really hope your puppy is ok. (((((((((((( Hugs ))))))))))
Don't feel guilty, it was an accident.

About 2-3 months ago our little puppy ate a whole chocolate bar. I started to freak. DH called the oncall vet and she said the same thing as another poster said.....peroxide. I though she was nuts but fed it to my poor little pooch anyway. He never did throw up or have the runs. Guess he has a cast iron stomach. We got him at the pound and they found him running the streets so there is no telling what he used to eat.

I hope your lil puppy comes out of this Ok. Keep us posted please.

My Lab ate a casstte tape when he was 8 months old. The ribbon rapped around the base of his tongue and went into his stomach. If it had made it to the intestined he would have bled to death:( I do not even know where he got the tape from...I thought we only had CD's around. We hadn't used tapes in years. I still felt terribly guilty but you can't control everything.

Do you have any idea what doggy ICU costs???????? ;)

From what I understand, that Bakers bittersweet chocolate is the worst thing for them. Prayers that your pup will be OK!!!
