My Prediction...FLOP

The first teaser trailer is absolutely superb, IMHO, and shows, in a nutshell, the full creative story-telling Brad Bird has brought to the screen elsewhere. It could still be a flop, but somehow I doubt it with this level of talent involved.

Brad Bird + George Clooney =\= flop.

Let's not forget Damon Lindelof is attached to this a co-writer. His credits aren't miniscule. Lost, World War Z, Prometheus, Star Trek Into Darkness, Cowboys & Aliens... Science Fiction/Fantasy seems to be a thing he's pretty stinking good at. This team pretty much gives this movie a 50 point lead with 5 seconds left on the board.

There were about 35 million visits Disneyland and Magic Kingdom and about 220 million visits to the movies.

Most people probably won't automatically recognize that Tomorrowland is also the name of a themed land at the 2 parks. And even if they did, the teaser trailer doesn't related the move to the land. Based on rumored filming and plot details, it may show some (such as the Carousel of Progress). It could be minor and maybe just a tongue in cheek easter egg. I'm guessing there will be some scenes that look and feel like it. Like the Pirates movie had a scene where the prisoners were trying to coax the dog to give them the key. An easter egg to the ride, but didn't do much to remove the movie from the audience.

I would say the name "George Clooney" in a non-drama type film spells flop/disaster more than the film title...even in Ocean's Eleven he was the drama character.

It's also got an EXTREMELY favorable release date of right on Memorial Day weekend.

You could also add Tokyo, Hong Kong and eventually shanghai into that they all have tomorrow lands and get millions of visitors. Disneyland Paris has aversion but theirs is called discovery land.

I consider myself a fan of Walt Disney's EPCOT (the city that never was), so I like the idea of this movie as the teaser and discussion at least appear to be tapping into that vein. To what degree it actually does remains to be seen, but I'm intrigued.

We saw the teaser trailer and everyone in my family is very excited for this movie. We are definitely Disney geeks, but I have to say, I would be excited for it even if it wasn't Disney. It just looks interesting!

Over on another popular social website, people thought that this movie was named after the Tomorrowland Music Festival. There are millions and millions of people that don't visit Disney parks and know nothing about them. So, I agree that the name "Tomorrowland" will not automatically make people think of Disney World/Disneyland

What does it matter if people get the connection to Tomorrowland in the theme parks? The movie has absolutely nothing to do with a theme park. It's silly to assume that a movie will flop because people don't already know the entire backstory behind something. The Godfather and Shawshank Redemption were both books, do you think the majority of the people that saw those movies read the books first? Doubtfull, and those are arguably some of the greatest movies ever made.

The odds that the OP is right could be about 50/50, although that probably has nothing to do with the name of the movie. Disney live action movies have been very hit and miss lately (the Pirates movies, Alice in Wonderland and Maleficent did well but John Carter and Lone Ranger tanked hard). Clooney is no guarantee of success for a movie, he's been in some stinkers. Bird's success is almost all in animated movies. I'm eager to see how it develops as more details come out.

;) Trailer looks interesting but I REALLY WANT THAT PIN !!
