Moral of the stories to those of you with young ones. Rent that car!! It would have been worth its weight in gold.
Good advice about the rental car Jenrose. I've had children too---three of them. I went through the whole stroller/diaper craze with little ones in WDW yet it has not changed my outlook on ECV/wheelchairs as it has yours. It's just that after having a child you tend to see things differently and having to wait that extra time for loading and unloading or missing a bus we would have otherwise made had it not been for the scooters 6 relatives was detrimental to our trip.
SPEAKING HYPOTHETICALLY HERE : You know.....alot of people have issues with young families with strollers and all too. I have seen monorails/ferries/busses held up for them. Some parents wait until the last possible moment to fold those strollers up---holding up the line for everyone. I have seen people's feet get run over by them....they take up alot of room on the already crowded busses.......
So you have issues with ECV/wheelchair abuse and others may have issues with stroller abuse. You're gonna see abuse of the system and policies everywhere you go. But in the long run, I feel there is far less abuse going on than needs to be made an issue of. I happen to feel that rental cars are more convenient for those with young children and strollers. Getting on and off those busses is a hassle with them. So in that respect you are giving good advice. AGAIN...THIS WAS JUST A HYPOTHETICAL ANALOGY. THERE'S ALWAYS A FLIP SIDE TO THE COIN. I PERSONALLY DON'T FEEL THIS WAY. JUST WANTED TO MAKE THIS CLEARER.
But as for the comments in your first post----call us sensitive if that is your stance---but I feel the world needs to become more tolerant of the hardships that others deal with on a daily basis. Be glad and feel blessed that your only problem were waits and hassles with the busses. I think about those people who live with disabilities and are dependent on wheelchairs and on others to get around for most of their lives.
well true again jenrose. When one person voices their free speech and opinions, other (often different and conflicting opinions) are sure to follow. It's something one has to accept when posting things like this on an internet message board.not what I intended but free speech tends to get everyone's panties in a twist
I am glad overall you liked POP. Your personal feelings about the resort are what really drew me to this thread in the first place. I did enjoy the rest of your review (sans the ECV/wheelchair comments).
Peace...........
