he is 10 and has some problems like ADHD and OCD..

Since he has special ed. he is allowed to ride the bus.. Well at the beginning of school we moved so we could be a little closer to his school.

So at the beginnig of school he rode bus 297 and they would pick him up at 7:30. Well last friday the bus drive told me he wouldnt be Alex bus driver and he really wanted alex on the bus, but the orders came from the top. He told me Monday Alex bus will be 302.

So Monday came and we waited outside at 7:15 just in case the bus got here early. well at 7:45 Still no bus, so I called the bus place and they told me that they had already been there at 6:20. And the would pick him back up at 8:00 school starts at 8:00

My husband called and said he would drive him.

What make us mad is the 6:20 in the morning he only lives 1 and half miles from school.

Wow that is a long time.....can you call the school to find out why the long ride or whatever it is they are doing? I know around here with all of the costcutting and so forth, they have eliminated busses for kids under a certain distance. Doesn't matter if there are side walks or not!

Did you ask why so early? For a child who has special needs that seems like a lot of unstructred time that could lead to challanging situations.

What time would he get to school? If he gets there early, what will he do until school starts?

I would be proactive and ask a lot of questions.

Service and complain and found out why they did this switch.

He is the first kid to be picked up. because we live near the bus department, so he will ride on the bus while they pick up other kids so he will get to school about 10 minutes before schools starts and then he will eat breakfast. he eats two breakfast one at home and then one at school

The bus he rides is for special kids.

It is dumb The old bus was fine I liked the bus driver and the bus driver and the monitor liked alex..

Hi,

6:20 seems waaaayyyy to early if school starts at 8:00. In NY there is a law that a special needs(maybe any) child can only be on the bus for 1 hr travel time. My son was on the bus for 50 min but then sat in the bus outside of school for 10min until the teachers came to get him, I was told it equals to 1 hr. Wasn't happy with the sitting on the bus for so long but he was a little younger and would actually fall asleep. It all worked out in the end. After about a month they switched bus companies, I guess alot of parents complained.

With your school starting at 8:00 and him being on the bus at 6:20 it seems he is way over the allowed time. He wouldn't be getting off that bus until about 7:55. I would call and call and call until it gets fixed.

I do hope things work out on the bus route for your little guy, bambii. Too bad the changes. I am sure it will sort out okay in the days ahead.

That sure is a long time to spend on the bus. I'm sorry he had to change buses :(

I would check to see what your state rules on Special Education Transportation. Here it is no longer than a one hour bus ride unless the whole team agrees. That is way to long of a ride for a child who is going down the strret. Can't they pick him up on the way back to school?

Be persistent!
