My poor dog

That stinks!!! I had a dog get sprayed by a skunk it the smell was horrendous! I can't imagine smelling it come out of my dog - ewe! Glad the skunk shampoo worked. I don't know anything about kennel cough but I hope it clears up quickly.

Awww! Poor pup and poor you!

One of my dogs was sprayed three times last year. So far not this year. Most likely b/c the skunks learned that she will relentlessly chase them in our yard. The skunk shampoo really works IMO. Good luck!!!

Thank you! He is doing better. His kennel cough is mild, thankfully, so no antibiotics needed. Vet more concerned with the diarrhea, but that seems to have resolved, I think it was mainly from ingesting the skunk spray. He's tired and resting but seems a lot better today.

I feel for those with skunk sprayed dogs. It's been a good 8 years since we went through that and I still remember it vividly! Not something you easily forget lol

Tomorrow our latest rescue goes in for his second round of heart worm treatment, poor guy :worried:. First round went well, especially considering he had just come home from the kennel with a nasty case of kennel cough. Caught it even with the vaccine, and his lungs weren't in great shape to begin with given the heart worms and pneumonia he had just before coming to us. NOT looking forward to keeping him quiet for another 30 days. Thank goodness the rescue organization pays for the treatment, it's not cheap.

Oh, that poor guy! Sending out hugs and prayers and pixie dust to him and to you. He's been through a lot! He must feel horrible. Would love to see a picture some time when you get around to it. What is his name?

Thanks! Actually think he feels better now than he has in quite a while. Was a stray when found and not in good shape so he is much healthier than he's been. Started to get much more active about 2 weeks after the 1st heart worm treatment, it was obvious that he was feeling better. Looking forward to seeing his "real" personality come out when he gets rid of those nasty heart worms. Suspect he's quite a mischievous little lab at heart.... Keeping him quiet during the treatment period is the challenge. UGH!

I hope your doggy gets better and stops smelling. Good luck on that one though. My cat Calvin has been sprayed a couple of time and the last time was about 2 weeks ago. I don't think he was trying to get the skunk but was trying to get away from the skunk because he only got a little on him. However, after 5 weeks of upper respitory infections and totally blocked sinues I am hoping this will be over. It seems from talking to people these infections seem to be everywhere with dogs and cats this year.

It wasn't bad enough he has kennel cough from a recent kennel stay (despite the vaccine).

He got sprayed by a skunk last night straight in the face! It was awful - he apparently swallowed the skunk spray and inhaled it because it came out both ways, vomit and cough, and on the other end, too. Ugh!

Thankfully I'd bought some skunk shampoo when I'd seen it this summer, always good to have that on hand.

But I feel badly seeing the little guy so sick.

Anyone else's pets have these types of things going on this summer? Let me know I'm not the only bad doggy mom!

You are a terrible doggy mom. Okay just kidding, you are just one of us who has to deal with skunks.

My poor shi-tzu ended shaved pretty much bald. He was so dejected if dogs can be
