My poor deprived daughter....

I made the mistake of taking my daughter,9, to Fairlane mall for the first time in the spring. Now, she wants to go to the mall all the time.
She had been to Southland mall a few times since it is close to school.

We must be neighboors! I am about 10 minutes from Southland although I don't really consider it a mall, LOL! It is so small and they have closed so many stores. But at least they have a Childrens Place and Olgas. Same with Fairlane, yes it a lot bigger than Southland but they really don't have a lot of stores. My favorite malls are Twelve Oaks and Lakeside. I also really enjoy going to Partridge Creek. For whatever reason I don't much care for Somerset, maybe becasue it is the OC, LOL! I go to the new mall in Allen Park a lot (we call it The Hill).

I have a shopoholic dd too! In fact her all time favorite bday party to attend was her friend Kaitlyn, the parents hired a limo to pick the kids up at school, drive them around town for an hour, drop them off at the mall where the mother fed them all pizza and gave each kid $20 to spend however they wished!

I told her not to plan on EVER having such a party!

I think you guys are lucky. I have 3 boys who HATE the mall. I can't get them to go at all. It is pure torture for them. After 5 min someone will say "can we go home now?"

Middle of a corn field, more or less. We're "in town", such as it is, which puts us about a 10 minute walk from farmland (including the dairy farm next to the kids' school).

Pardon my ignorance but how can she have not been to a mall recently? Where do you buy school clothes, summer clothes, etc?

That's what I was thinking....I'm smack dab in the middle of freakin' Indiana and I can get to a half dozen (at least) full sized indoor and outdoor malls within 30 mins or less.

I'm "smack dab in the middle of freakin' Arizona" and it's at least an hour to drive to a small mall. It's a two hour drive to Phoenix for large malls.

My BFF still can't believe I moved to a place that's 2 hours from the nearest Nordy! Now I get my mall fix when I visit SoCal and/or DLR.

So we've got lots of "deprived" kids around here too.

We do have a Kmart, an independent shoe store, and a children's consignment here in town, then there are the stand-alone department/chain stores about a half hour from here, but right now I do most of the kids' shopping online since they're still young enough that they don't really need to try things on. Old Navy and Gymboree get a fair bit of my money without me ever setting foot in one of their stores.

I don't see what is so 'horrid' about wanting to go the mall?????
