My Points Referral Warning

Just to warn anyone who does referrals for MyPoints --

We had family visiting this past week, so I asked them to sign up under my referral for MyPoints. They used our computer and signed up in consecutively, plus I and DH use the same computer for our email points. Long story short, they suspended all of our accounts for "confusion surrounding your account" plus I got an email about it being illegal to refer fictional people or signing up yourself under other emails. They must have thought it was illegal since it was coming from 1 IP address. I was told I had to fax them a copy of my driver's license to get reinstated. I did that on Thursday and still haven't heard anything. I sent them emails about it, but haven't heard anything back despite getting the automated "we'll get back to you w/ in 24-48 hrs".

I'm FURIOUS because I did nothing wrong. I just ordered 2 $25 webcerts (which it looks like I'm NOT getting now), and DH was getting ready to order 1. Needless to say, once I turn in every available point I have, I am cancelling. Great way to introduce my family to MyPoints!

Don't be too discouraged. What you reported seems to be pretty standard practice with MyPoints. They did the same thing to me when I signed up my mom & DH. I would have been very upset too, but I had read on these boards that MyPoints does that. I faxed them my info. & everything was back to normal in a few days. I haven't had any other problems with them since then.
