My Points - Redeem points for Hurricane Donation

This arrived in my email a little after 6pm Friday 9/2.
"Donate points for hurricane disaster relief"

My Points is redeeming points for Hurricane relief. Currently 500 point donations are temporarily out of stock, but they have offers for 1,000 and 2,000 point redemptions.

Points will be converted to cash contributions to the American Red Cross.

To give an idea of points to dollars - quickly looking at the list of redemptions - 750 points would cash in for $5 Barnes and Noble card, 1,400-1,500 for a $10 gift card to Old Navy, Home Depot, and other national retailers. 2,000 points would reward the redeemer with a $15 Blockbuster card.

So maybe you don't have extra cash to donate but you might be saving points, but you don't quite have enough to redeem for something more. Donating your points would be a less stressful than writing a check if you've been hammered with the sharply increased fuel prices this week. It's worth consideration.

I just checked my email at 8:55 and only the 2000 pts was left! I am so glad people are giving, I just don't have enough to give 2000 I will keep checking to see if more 1000 are available.

If you are a member of quickrewards you can also donate to red cross. They allow you to donate as little as one cent from your balance. This way if you don't have much in thier account there is no required minimum to donate because in mypoints you need a minimum of 500 points.

I had been saving points for webcertificates but since they are no longer offering them I had no idea what I was going to use my 7189 points for and then the opportunity arose to donate them and I jumped at that. I dontated 7,000 points but I'm not sure how much that will be converted in to. By looking at other redemption options it looks like that would be maybe $50. I hope so!
