Hi,
I need some help.........My dh has now just told me that he rather do something different than go to WDW again....He wants to try something new, like Hershey in Pa.....So i said yes only because i got to do what i wanted last trip which of course was WDW...How can i convince him to take us all back to WDW???I will feel bummed out if i don't go :sad2: ....I feel like a little kid but we had so much fun when we were there, i'm just dying to get back....

Wow, your husband sounds like mine.....

However, I usually make a case for just how happy WDW makes me. That somehow it's not just any amusement park, but something much more special. If he gets in one of his "Eeyore" moods, I try to highlight all the things there that would interest him (for our last trip that meant golf). That pretty much sold it on my end.

This year it was to make our baby twins 1st birthday special, since we recently moved to FL and have no family or friends here. Also we are staying at the CR, and he thinks the monorail through the hotel is cool. Also, he likes the great rates I get from our travel agent.

Good luck. I've always been curious about Hershey, PA, but your right, it doesn't measure up to Disney. However, if he has dug his heels in, maybe you can tell yourself that it just gives you another year to save up and make that NEXT Disney trip that much more special.

Good luck.

I wouldn't push it; IMO wherever we go as a family always works out. We alternate WDW with Tennessee (Dollywood). It not only keeps each vacation spot "fresh" for us, but helps me budget as 10 days in Tennessee costs about half of what 10 days in WDW does.
If your DH really wants to try something new--why not? WDW will always be there and he'll be more prone to agree to go if you agree with his travel plans once and awhile..... :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsgirl:

I will share two thoughts:

1) Doing different things can be exciting to try.

2) No amusement park is the same after WDW. Period. Without the attention to detail the experience is not the same.

Hershey is a very nice park, for a day. I would make sure that you plan other things to do in the area such as continuing on over to Gettysburg and take in some American History.

The most important thing is to spend time together as a family. I will bet that you will be back at WDW the next year.

Hi there! As someone who lives near hershey just thought I would give my input....we have alot to do in the area but it is definately not Disney. The park itself is fun for a day or two but you definately cannot make an entire week of just the park. It's very clean and lots of fun but I don't think there is enough there to be the sole destination for a vacation...a weekend maybe. Granted there are many things to do (shopping, other sightseeing, fun hikes, touristy stuff) but you really can't compare the two....world's apart. Hope I helped a little!

Hi again,
Thanks for all your replies....My dh has planned out for us kind of as a road trip in Pa.....He wants to go to Hershey for two nights, then to Gettysburg for a night and then move on to a few other places not sure where yet....I know that we will be happy where ever we go as long as the family is together...Maybe i'm just being selfish, and acting like a kid....But when you get your hopes up to go back to the one place you just love to vacation and then things change :sad2: ....I will probbly have to let my dh pick the vacation this year, so i can back to WDW next year...Thanks....

We're going to Hershey in July with the kids (DS6 and DD2). After WDW last Oct, it's not going to measure up. But we also have a quick trip to see Mickey, just the two of us, this Oct. That's what keeps me sane. I know that's not possible for everyone. I say, go to Hershey and enjoy the family time, then see when you can get back to WDW next. BTW, other things to do in the Hershey area are Sesame Place in Langhorne, PA and the Crayola Factory (don't know what town, but near there too!). Hope this helps!
