My PhotoPass Advice

I'm a complete newbie to this photopass thing so could someone please break it down in the most simple terms for me please? What I'm understanding is that I pay $xxx for a photopass (what is photopass+ vs photopass?) and get a card. When my group goes to meet Ariel, for example, then a Disney photographer scans my card and takes our group photo, correct? Then, everyday, those photos are loaded to an online site? But, we can also take our own photos with our own camera as well, correct? So, why would you load your own photos to the photopass website too? Then, when the vacation is over, I order all of the photopass photos to either a CD that gets snail mailed to me or can be downloaded to me via the web. Then, I can do whatever I want to with those photos (print them for scrapbooking, print multiple copies for everyone in our group, from any place like Walmart, Walgreens, etc)? Thank you!

Actually, I did edits prior to my email to guest services and again after I was told what I needed to do and then, I had to reply to the email they sent me after I did whatever I wanted to be done on the photos..so, as soon as I added the extras( frame around the cars photo etc) I returned the email...so, I guess that was a lesson learned and an experience that I won't do again..

Quick question the boarders I put on the pictures photo people took wont be on my cd ???

Mine didn't even the 2nd time. I had a few that had them, but, not even 50% had them...:(

Did you go back to the original photo to do each edit? For example, if you are on an original and you add a border, you then hit "Save as copy", then that photo will be on your CD. If you leave it on that same screen and add a different border and hit "Save as copy" again, it replaces the first copy you made. You have to go back to the original photo EVERY time you want to make a new edit. It sounds like you didn't do that.

Yes, I did, in fact I was double careful with the saving of each photo...just a dab of bad luck for me...

We just got back and our family photos from Epcot in front of Spaceship Earth are missing. :( The email said their "exhaustive search" could not locate them. This is very upsetting to me! I guess I will try to call and see if that helps.

I just got back and 3 sets of photos were missing for us. 3!!!! I was a little miffed, as they wanted me to retrace my steps each time, and since I was there for 10 days, I had a hard time figuring out which day I did this and which day I did that. The 3 missing were Jesse/Woody (which we waited in line FOREVER for), Tiana, and 3 test track ride photos. Eventually they did find them, because I could narrow down based on other photopass photos. For example, they knew it was between x and y because at x I was meeting Mexico Donald, and at y I was getting our family photos done in front of the Epcot ball on the way out. It took a few days, but a call retrieved the photos.

Next time I'm going to have to keep a running tally of who I met where when. Yeah, definitely NOT impressed with Photopass this time around.

Try to be as specific as you can about the date, approximate time, maybe send another photo from your camera taken the same day to show the people and what they were wearing. It took me a couple of follow up e-mails last year but they were finally able to find our 2 missing photos. Pixie dust that they find your photos.

Thank you, everyone, for all these answers!! They've been so helpful to me, answering almost everything I needed an answer to before adding it to the "buy closer to your trip" list.

I've used the regular photopass service in the park, and only once have I ordered a picture from it.

I do have a question or two that hopefully someone can answer? As far as adding ride pictures, there is a rather large group of us (9, 7 adults/2 kids) going in April and we'd like to get as many of our ride pics as possible. For rides like Buzz Lightyear, where only 2 people can sit and use the car, would we be able to add all of the pictures from our first ride to the card? I would guess we would be separated into 4 cars (one of the kids will be 20 months so she can ride between adults if they allow her). Would I be able to add all 4 pictures to the card?

Also, would I be able to upload the ride pictures to Shutterfly and have copies of those made?

I like to make a photo dvd montage after vacations (day by day, the pictures set to fun Disney music as a memory keepsake). After I get the photo CD mailed to me, I can save them to my computer also, correct? In addition to uploading them to Shutterfly/taking them to the store?

Thank you in advance! :)

Yes, you get all of the ride photos. On our last trip, there were 6 of us, so we had three pics on Buzz (each time we rode).

You can get your pictures as either a download or on a cd. Either way, when you get the photos, you can do whatever you want with them. I have used mine on Shutterfly and in Christmas cards. I also made a copy of the cd to give to my parents who were on the trip with us.

Perfect! That's the answer I was hoping for and I'm pretty sure it solidified my getting this! Thank you so much! :) The copying of the CD will be perfect, too so we can each have a copy. :goodvibes
