Please explain exactally what a pal mickey is! Where do you get them? How much, and will it entertain a three year old, if so my 14 year old will love it!!

I didn't get one, but I asked a lot of people that had one how well it worked. They all loved it and thought it was the cutest thing. It seemed to have a belt clip or something like that on it too. Hope someone that has one will see your post and answer.

We bought one for DS5. It is great. Both DD7 and DS had fun with him.
He is a smallish (about 12 inch) stuff toy that is interactive.
He shakes when he has something to say, and it is something interesting about the attraction you are near or at.
Also he tells jokes and plays games (there are three different games)
From the instructions that came with him:
"Mickey will giggle and shake when he has something important to tell you. Just squeeze one of his hands or press his tummy (within 15 seconds) to hear what he has to say. Pal Mickey has over 700 different fun and helpful things to say while you explore the Parks."
"It's really easy to ask Mickey to repeat what he just said. He'll repeat it (up to 5 times) if you just squeeze on of his hands or press his tummy within 15 seconds"
"Whenever you are with Pal Mickey, he's always ready with a funny joke or fun fact. Anytime you want Pal Mickey to talk, simply squeeze one of his hand or touch his tummy."
The three games Mickey plays are:
1. "That isn't here" game - Mickey will say the name of one of the four WDW Theme Parks and then list places and things that are found inthe Park. If the place or thing is in Epcot squeeze one of Mickey's hands to score a point. If the place or thing is not in that park, then squeeze Mickey's tummy. You will only have a few seconds to answer and you get less time as you go along!
2. "Fast Friends" game - Mickey's going to say the names of one or two of his "special friends". Then, he'll tell you which hand to squeeze to score a point when he says that special friend's name. For example Mickey might say "Squeeze my right hand when I say Goofy" Then the game starts. Mickey will list 5 of his friends. If Mickey lists a friend that was not one of these "special friends" squeeze his tummy to score a point (more......)
3. "Mickey says" game. Just like simon says.

We found that just playing with him kept the kids happy when waiting in lines, etc.

I will admit he is a little hard to hear (I had to hold him up to my ear) but I'm sure that is so people won't go mad hearing Mickey chattering all day long.

He comes with a clip to clip him to a belt, but found it wasn't great. DD held him outward most of the time and he worked fine.

You can purchase these at most resort gift shops (not at Swan/Dolphin as of yet) Also I see they now have them at the parks. I'm sure you'll be able to get them anywhere soon.

IMO - well worth the $50., plus DD and DS like playing with him at home too. Great thing is you can bring him back next trip and apparently they will updating information.

I hope this helps.

Yzma and Kronk thanks so much for this info.I read about Pal Mickey a few weeks ago and I'm happy to get a first hand report on him!!

Tell me what does Mickey say now that your are home? Is he like me and my family ...what we're always saying when we're home...."When are we going back to Disney World?!?!" :earsboy:

We got a Pal Mickey when we were in WDW 2 weeks ago and I'm glad we got it. We liked it for alot of the reasons Yzma and Kronk posted. It was fun to hear Mickey start talking as you approached an attraction, especially the Tower of Terror and the jokes were cute. Our 2 year old enjoyed it when Mickey started talking and we used the clip to clip him to our bag or my husbands belt (when our daughter didn't want to hold him) and we had no problems with the clip. We really enjoyed Pal Mickey and think you would too!

Baloo - Too funny!! Ours won't stop talking about the FT package and why we should take him back to WDW :p (just kidding!)

Justcruisin - not sure what you mean about "upgradable"?

They say they will program new things for him to say as you return to the parks. He says so many things now (over 700, plus 100 jokes) that I'm not sure I'd notice "new" things.

We loved him too! He was so great for our 4 year old - kept him busy. We all LOVED him at AK. That is the most time we have ever spent in that park - because Mickey was showing us all the animals. Also told us all about them. Regretably he did not work right the one day we were in Epcot. I bet he is great around the world.

Mine actually talked on the Haunted Mansion. I thought that was kind of funny. As were the repeated reminders not to let him ride Splash Mountain or Kali River Rapids. I liked that he mentioned height requirements any time I was near a "thrill ride." Although I don't have kids, I imagine that it must be easier to prepare a small child for disappointment if Mickey tells you first.

The strangest comment, though, was when I was on my way out of AK and he suggested that I take a different trail, as I had taken that one on the way in. He also told me a joke about George Washington after going through the XRay machine at MCO. That time I didn't even need to press his hand. I had left him out of my bag and turned on, in case security asked me about him (all of those wires had me worried). I guess the machine must have triggered him somehow.

One hint- sometimes the belt clip doesn't work very well when you bend over. I had just happened to bring a very long twist tie with me and I used that to securely fasten him to my bag. I met a woman who had used a lanyard to "leash" her Mickey. In fact, I saw many more adults with Pal Mickey than kids. I suppose it's easier to justify a $50 stuffed animal if you're buying him for yourself.

On the first posts I saw about this it looked like people were sort of dissappointed with him. I also read that he was quiet after you get him home. I am thinking about getting this or the Disney Trivia game when we go back to pass the ride line time., still can't decide which. I would have thought it was bigger than 12 inches for $50.

We just bought Pal Mickey yesterday in the Magic Kingdom. They just became available in MK this week. My 11 yo DD loves him! We came home today, but are going for again for a week in August, so I justified the expense :)

The jokes are almost all plays on words, and while small children are just going to love to hold Mickey, I think many of the jokes would go over their head. On the other hand an 11yo and adults for that matter will chuckle over the jokes. Micky's little comments after the jokes are very funny also.

It has three games to play besides the jokes and I think at least two of them are fairly challenging. You would really need to know WDW well to be able to do one of the games.

My DD would have made all the airline passengers crazy on the way home if I would have let her play with Mickey as much as she wanted. As it was she would announce about every hour or so that it was time for a joke and we would listen to one before turning Mickey off again.

Cute post. Pal Mickey sounds so cool. My kids are older, but I want to get one for ME!!!! My family will think I've really lost it!LOL!!!

I finally decided to read a thead that mentioned "Pal Mickey" and I'm glad I did! I'm hook! I want one! I don't care if my kids end up not being interested; I AM!!!!

I can't wait to go back in Dec and buy one...I've actually considered paying $60 plus shipping to have him early!!!!! My DH would kill me though!;)

The ads say that he gives you useful information, like wait times for rides and such. Do you actually get any practical info out of him that you wouldn't know just by checking the times guide or tip board?

a web search turned up a great article about him, with photos and comments at mousears. thanks for the candid replies!
