My opinion on our room at OKW

I think someone keeps track of this :-)

We just had a lovely stay at OKW and have to say all the cast members were just delightful. Our room was a 2 bedroom and it was 2630. We had a wonderful view of the golf course and water feature. Out of the living area window (not the doors to the balcony) we caught sight of the fireworks from Epcot one night.

This building does not have a elevator and we were on the 3rd floor and I have to say it wasn't all that bad climbing all those steps at night course we were laughing so hard every night joking about them they became just part of our fun. Sorry to the neighbors about that laughing ;-) LOL

We had a short walk to pennisular bus stop and the walk to hospitality house wasn't bad at all.

All around we had a grand time and didn't want to leave since we all agreed it was a wonderful unit and we were very comfortable and spoiled :-)

It was our first DVC stay and learned lots from our stay and from all your wonderful answers before we left and we just can't wait for our return and yes we have already started the planning LOL

We stayed in 2630 on one of our trips, and we loved it too. We liked being able to catch the HH bus on the way to the park, and to get off on Peninsular Road on the way home. And, like you, we thought the view was wonderful.

None of us minded the couple of flight of steps to the room, either. It's just something you do, and we didn't think it was a problem. We all agreed that we would happily live in 2630 full time!

If only...

Just wanted to add one more thing.... the living area had a DVD player I know that was asked once. We didn't borrow any from the resort but did buy some and were happy we could watch them one night while munching chips :-D

it really was like being home. only much much better since Mickey was just a sleep away :-D

Thanks DianeL for your OKW room report. It is very helpful and I can hardly wait for our stay. Since Mom is 84 I don't think we will be staying on an upper level unless there is an elevator nearby, but would like a 1st floor 2bdmr villa. Does anyone know if it will be as nice of a view as the 2nd or 3rd levels appear to be?
I have read that there is no bad view at OKW. ;) I hope this is true.

Yes, I keep a list of OKW room reports and I thank you for that. We've only stayed in a 2 BR once, but from your description, I sure wish it had been that one! Do you happen to remember whether it was a lock-off or dedicated. I'm really hoping for lock-off. That would mean we have a chance for that gorgeous view when we go-we've got a 1 BR.
Anyone else with a room report from OKW?

Thanks for sharing your trip. And anyone who is going up to the third floor is allowed to laugh as long and as hard as they like! ;)

MontanaM -- You always get a better view at any resort if you are higher up. That said, many people have loved the view from their first floor units. I think a studio might be at the greatest disadvantage being on the 1st floor.

It was a dedicated 2 bedroom. We only had the one balcony, I the look of things if you have a lock-off (2nd bedroom being a studio add-on) then you'd have 2 balconies(?).

another thing that really impressed me was the closet space. when we entered the unit there was a closet immediately on our right that held a vaccum and highchair.

From there if you made a right a few feet in you were in the 2nd bedroom with the 2 queens. That room had 2 closets. As you entered the room on your right was the dressing area and so if you walked in that direction you had the bathroom in front of you a sink, toliet, tub/shower closed off with the door. Before reaching the bathroom proper you had the dressing area on your left and a closet on your right.

Back to entering the 2nd bedroom ahead of you would be the 2 queen beds and directly on your left was a table with 2 chairs. On the wall to your left was a window but I never really looked for the view from there I think you'd just see the trees mostly. If you turned right on an angle and walked to the 2nd queen bed and walk to the wall that is in the front of the unit you'd look out another window that would probably over look the stairway if I had looked out (all i did was glance for a rain/sun report *G*). There was another closet there too and that was more of a walk in but it wasn't a walk-in that had 2 rows of bars for hanging it was just a deeper closet.

Back out to the front door if you have the door to your back and turn left and walked down a short hall you'd have the laundry room on your left which had full size washer and dryer and plenty of room to store the suitcases if needed. Continuing down the hall was the master bedroom with the king bed and I have to admit I didn't look around in there much cause it was the young man in our group's room so I stayed out mostly except to get to the safe which was located in that closet.

I do know that from the master bedroom you could reach the balcony that was also reached from the living area. It was rather good size (i was very impressed) and had a table and 4 chairs.

Back in the main kitchen/living area. It came stocked with plates, glasses and silverware and when I say glasses I mean there was stemware! :-o

Over by the table which was round with 4 chairs is another sort of buffet area were again you could stash things if needed with a nice deep counter on top of that.

all around it was one amazing unit and i just have to tip my hat at those imagineers who designed and decorated it. they did a really really amazing job.

i have to add i was a travel agent a few years back and had the chance to view all the hotels and a room or two in each of those that were currently open at the time (back before sarasota opened) anyways i thought it was nice back then but was more impressed with the design and decor of the WL which remains one of my fave resorts even though I haven't stayed there. But after this visit OKW has gone up to the 2nd resort on my list. #1 being the Animal Kingdom Lodge since I just love waking up and seeing the animals :-D

The buses were great. Crowds in January for this resort was wonderful. I have no idea how busy it was because it always had a relaxed feel to it. In the mornings we never stood there was plenty of seating. We used the boat from DTD and i was very nice.

Oh and the decorations for Christmas were still up at the resort which I need to post over on the other board as I was one of those asking earlier in the month.

never had the chance to eat at the resort but did notice that they indeed still had the refill mugs. one mug was like $11.99 with free refills another was cheaper but you had to pay for refills.

We stopped at Publix and it was nice and clean and had all we wanted probably too much since we had leftovers LOL

anymore questions? i'm still glowing from the stay :-D even though we probably have 4 in. of snow outside since last night brrrr.
