You might have this person on your list as well - you know her, she is an older (mid 70s) woman, and she has everything she needs. She can't think of anything in the world you could give her for a gift. She can't use any bath products because the dermatologist has told her to use a special soap and cream only. She can't get any food items because her doctor has restricted her (fill in the blank) which is the only ingredient in whatever you want to get her. She doesn't need any new Christmas decorations, because her tree is full of the handmade ornaments her son (now age 47) made as a child, and she loves them so.
Arrrggghhhh!!!!!! What to do? You really love this woman - she's been a second mother to you over the years, and she came and helped nurse your mother through her final battle with cancer. You can't give her a family picture - she still has the one from last year, and you just haven't changed that much. She doesn't read, doesn't listen to books on tape, has all the "records" she needs...are you getting the picture here???
And then, while casually chatting about Christmas gifts, she happens to remember that THERE WAS SOMETHING SHE THOUGHT SHE MIGHT LIKE TO HAVE, BUT SHE CAN'T REMEMBER IT!!!!!!
So you poke and prod and probe and....finally...she remembers that she saw Rachel Ray on Oprah and there was a good five minute chocolate recipe in her new book, so she thought she might like to have that!!!!!! So guess who will be going to Barnes and Noble, and then to the gourmet market for ingredients in a gift bag tomorrow? Me, that's who!!!!!
WooooHooooooo!!!!!!!!!!
