My niece's dreams came true this weekend with a little help from Dis and a little bit of pixie dust.
I have an AP and go to DLR regularly, not using any plan but instead taking time to "smell the roses". But this weekend, my niece and her family came to "do DLR" and she had only had 2 wishes. One, she wanted to "find Nemo" and two, she wanted to meet Jack Sparrow, no princesses for her<G>
For the first time, I had to plan my visit to DLR. Thanks to all of you, I learned that they had to get the park early and make tracks to nemo and if they had EE, they would even have a better chance to get on nemo without a 2 hour wait. So Friday night, my plan was to stop by DL and have them buy their tickets ahead of time, but that didn't work out and I thought I would just leave "really" early to get them there. Thank god for etickets and some extra pixie dust at the gate, they were able to get in with the EE even though they only had 2 day hopper tickets EARLY Saturday morning. The wait was just under an hour and the lines were still short for most rides until 11am. One wish down.
for the second wish, I had no clue what to do. So today, in conversation with a cm, we found out that Jack Sparrow would walking around New Orleans Square around 1pm. So my daughter and my niece headed to Pirates' Lair after lunch to "look for more treasure". My niece and I had found 3 treasures the day before and she "knew" as only a 6 year old knows that there was more treasure to be found. As my daughter was trying to get my niece to leave, jack Sparrow came up behind her and "took" her bottle of water and the 2 swords she had bought my niece. My niece shouted, "HE stole your water and my swords!" My daughter turns around and there's jack Sparrow grinning at her. He talked with my niece and they had a swordfight in front of the big treasure pile. They played around. My daughter noticed that there were no other kids around only 2 older adults who weren't there after the sword fight. It was just jack Sparrow and my niece. AND 6 cms, a "suit"<G>, and the photopass photographer taking pictures. My daughter said that just as suddenly as jack Sparrow appeared, my niece remembered that they were suppose to meet us and started to run toward the rafts. My daughter reminded her to say thank you and afterwards Jack Sparrow said, "I don't know why you are thanking me, I didn't give you anything you didn't have before." And then my niece ran off and my daughter went after her....leaving Jack Sparrow, the photographer, the "suit", and 6 cms standing there<G> My daughter, bless her heart, didn't even think to give my niece her autograph book and take a picture...which btw, they had been doing all day<G> So the only pictures we were able to get were the 3 they put on photopass. My daughter wants to know what happen to all the other pictures that he took, she says he was snapping like a madman.
I don't know how that happened, but again the Disney magic made for a very happy 6 yr old who couldn't stop talking about meeting Capt Jack Sparrow...oh, and she told him that SHE was his biggest fan and SHE was going to be Capt Jack Sparrow for Halloween<G>.
