I had a phone conference with Janis (for some reason i'd thought her name was janet, but anyways) this morning. We went over my new options since I immediately shot down the Marina after seeing pictures.

Option 1: Hold the ceremony at the WP on my original date at 7:30pm. she will honor ALL my previous minimums and allow me to make tweeks to my brunch menu to allow it to better suit the time of day.

Option 2: Hold the ceremony 2 days earlier on Jan. 1, 2012 at any time of day (it's completely open right now which shocked me). Since it's a Sunday there will not be any construction noise to worry about.

Option 3: Suck it up and stick with my original date/time

I'm really leaning towards option 1 but am still a little apprehensive.

any thoughts ladies?

What was the original time? And is there supposed to be construction during that time? Or will they halt it for your ceremony?

Construction would be over for the day at 7:30 p.m. so she wouldn't have to worry about noise at all. :thumbsup2

I think an evening wedding would be gorgeous, and I'm glad they're working on accommodating couples! :goodvibes

My original wedding time was 10am. She says that construction will be over between 5 and 6 so 7:30 would be completely noise free :D

Maybe I havent been paying that great attention to this and your other thread, but is DFTW making you move your ceremony, or do you want to move it because of the construction? Im asking cause our wedding is on Jan 6th and I havent gotten anything from them telling us that they are making us move. Our ceremony is at 2:30 and we are not bothered by the construction. If you end up keeping your original date...the 3rd?..well be getting there on the 4th so maybe well run into you. I would go for the first option because its like getting a night wedding for the price of a morning wedding.

no Disney isn't making us move. I talked to the head of DFTW Norm Noble and he said that in December they're supposed to start on the actual building so that most definitely on my day you'd hear noise. I was not ok with it and expressed my concerns and these are the options they've given me. I too love option 1 and most likely will pick that option. We probably will run into you since we are probably not checking out until the 4th or 5th. :) Which hotel are you staying at? Perhaps we can meet up for drinks

Maybe when you go to drop stuff off we can meet up. Take a quick 30 minutes. :) We'll definitely have to try and corrdinate closer to the day! :yay:

My wedding was at the WP at 7:30 and I loved it. I wanted 5 and thought 7:30 would be too late, but it was perfect. The one thing you do need to do for that time slot is take most pictures beforehand, so consider that if you don't want to see each other.

I had my photographer arrive to my hotel at 4, I wish I would have made it 3, we were a little rushed because we started at my hotel at downtown disney, then had first look at husband's hotel (Swan) then headed to Grand Floridian.

I held my cocktail hour before the ceremony, from 5:30 to 6:30 for several reasons. I didn't want guests to be starving during the ceremony. I only a few nibbles and drinks to tide them over, nothing to fill up on. I also wanted to be able to go straight into dinner as quickly as possible after the ceremony so we would be done in time for fireworks. I had time for my buffet dinner, first dance, father/daughter dance, and an open dance floor for about 4 songs before fireworks. Then guests headed out to the whitehall patio for fireworks while hubby and I went to the marina with photogs for an unobstructed view.

We went back and danced the night away till 12:30. Cake cutting was about 10:40 and then Mickey came right after. I didn't want him to help cut the cake. No one thought it was too late for cake, which I was kinda concerned about.

PM me if you want to see pics. It wasn't during construction but you can kind of get an idea of how the lighting is around that time. I had time for a group shot and a couple shots of us on the WP beach after the ceremony.

In that case I would go for the first option, especially since they will honor your original minimums. I had a 10 am ceremony and it was wonderful, but the only reason we did it was because the minimums were much cheaper. Evening was my first choice.

I would definitely go with option one. I have a good friend who got married in the WP at that time slot and the night time ceremony was beautiful.

I'm glad you are happy with that because when I read that itinerary I thought that was pretty genius.

Maybe I still have a chance at minimal noise in mid november if you heard they won't start the actual building in december.

Hope it all works out for you!!
