Hi Ray
I have been researching electric wheelchairs for a few weeks and am very interested in the Fold and Go wheelchair. I came across your review and was so glad to find someone who actually owns one and has been using it. Would you mind if I asked you a few questions? I’ve never had an electric wheelchair and I’m a bit afraid of it.
Hi, Cheryl. I'll be happy to try and answer your questions.
I never owned an electric wheelchair either before buying my Fold and Go Wheelchair.
I can understand spending so much money on a wheelchair and not knowing if it will work for me. I decided to rent a Fold and Go Wheelchair to use at WDW to see if it was right for me. And it was very easy for me to use after two weeks at WDW. I was very cautious of my surroundings and I used a slower speed around people in crowded situations and I used the same speed as other folks walking when there was more open space.
I bought one.
I bought a Pride mobility scooter a couple of years ago. I’m a large lady, 352 pounds, and I need something that can handle my weight.
I also weigh 340 pounds.
I have owned two mobility scooters. The first one was a Pride Revo 3-wheel mobility scooters. I researched for a long time. At the time it had a weight limit of 300-pounds even though I weighed 350-pounds, but it worked for me at WDW.
I wanted one for my weight and one I could take apart and put in my trunk. This worked for over a decade until I lost the use of my car. I had a tough time going up steep hills in my neighborhood. I was easily able to use rail trains to work, but some of the sidewalks and sidewalk ramps made it uncomfortable for me being so close to the moving car traffic using my Pride Mobility Revo 3-wheel mobility scooter. Especially with large breaks in the sidewalk and narrow sidewalks with no grass barrier between me and the busy traffic when going to work.
I bought another Pride Mobility Victory 10 LX (Model No. S710LX) 4-wheel mobility scooter that could carry me up the steep hills and fell safer on broken and poorly designed sidewalks that tilted downwards toward the dangerous traffic. It has a weight of 400-pounds but was too heavy and too big for me load into a car.
I love my Fold and Go Wheelchair, but sure do wish I had the newer Fold and Go MagSHOCK Wheelchair.
Of course, I needed a lift for that, so spent a lot of money on the scooter and the lift. I’m not totally wheelchair dependent, but can not walk any distance. By the time I got the scooter loaded and strapped down, it was just too much for me. Then I actually had someone steal the ratchet straps from the lift. I gave up and donated the scooter and lift to charity.
I am so sorry. I was thinking about buying a lift, too. I was afraid of the same thing happening to me.
I was researching for a long time for a car or SUV or minivan to carry my larger Pride Mobility Victory 10 LX (Model No. S710LX) 4-wheel mobility scooter. I didn't want to waste a lot of money on something like a car conversion or mobility scooter lift that might not work for me.
I can walk with my walking cane on good days, but not long distances. On my recent vacation, I fell hard three times. I severely sprained my left wrist in a shower about 12-days ago. I'm typing with one nondominant hand.
When I bought my Fold and Go Wheelchair, I could do so much more.
I can also deadlift the 55-pounds up to the rear entrance of the rental SUV. When I get it halfway in, I tilt it into the SUV and let 4-wheels help me push it the rest of the way in since I didn't have to turn my body nor walk to pick up pieces like a mobility scooter.
But I must use both hands.
I luckily got someone to help me load and unload my luggage and wheelchair from Kissimmee, Florida and back at home.
I don't usually travel by rental car. I was adventurous.
I am considering canceling my Smokey Mountain Fall leave's trip because not being able to use both hands.
I am still looking for a portable way to lift my wheelchair into a rental car. I think an SUV rear space being flat is better than a deep car trunk.
Or using a lightweight, portable ramp to roll the wheelchair into the SUV.
A salesman assured me that a Solex transformer scooter would work great for me even though the weight limit is supposed to be 300 pounds. So I bought one of those. I took it on 2 cruises and it was the most uncomfortable, miserable ride I ever had. It has hardly any clearance and it feels like it needs the room of a semi-truck to turn around. It will probably be donated to charity as well. I live in a small town, so it’s difficult to sell anything like that.
I am so sorry. That must be so frustrating.

RENTAL OPTION #1
The best way to
TRY before you BUY is with our Rental Program. We offer monthly rentals and provide
FREE SHIPPING to and from your door.
Since we are in wheelchairs ourselves, as a company we decided not to sell our chairs to dealers, medical warehouses, retail stores, supply outlets or on
Amazon.
You can use the rental chair for a month or more to test it out. If you love the rental chair, you can choose to keep it or ship the rental chair back and then purchase a brand-new chair in the color of your choice. Any money paid towards the rental chair
DOES NOT TRANSFER to the new chair purchase.
What to Expect
All rental chairs the next business day, and your credit card will be billed automatically every month on the day you started renting the chair. We will bill your card every monthly until you call us to ship the chair back to us.
We will run a
Soft Credit Check to determine if you will be charged an additional Security Fee or Not. This Additional Security Fee is NON-REFUNDABLE when the rental chair is shipped back.
Whether you choose the Regular or Heavy-Duty model size, we will ship you the next available color.
You DO NOT get to pick the color of your rental chair.
FREE SHIPPING
FREE Shipping on all rentals from our warehouse to your address. Return Shipping is also FREE and EASY. We will send UPS back to your delivery address with a pre-paid shipping label to pick up the rental chair in it’s original box.
Rental Chairs are only available in North America.
RENTAL OPTION #2
Our RENT-to-OWN Program is very popular with people wanting a monthly payment option. Each rental chair can be rented for a total of 9-monthly payments after which you will OWN the chair. Each rental chair comes with our 3-Year Warranty, which starts the day UPS delivers the chair to your door.
At any time during the 9-months you can call us to get PAYOFF on the rental chair and stop the monthly billing. Payoff quotes are good until your next scheduled monthly payment. We will give you the discounted purchase price for the rental chair in your possession, and deduct any and all payments you have made to date. This will give you the total payoff purchase price of the rental chair.
What to Expect

I’m sorry my post is so long, but my point is I’ve wasted a lot of money already. I need to be very careful about my next purchase.
No worries, Cheryl. And I agree and understand about being careful.
