My Name Is Peter & I'm A Disney-holic

Peter - You summed it up. I think I was born as Mickey Mouse as my brother. I have pictures of me at 6 years half asleep with my Mickey Mouse doll. It has never left me - many trips to Disneyland, Honeymoon at WDW, DD room decorated in Mickey, not to mention all the Disney DVD's. I am nuts I tell you :rotfl: !

I too find myself comparing trips we've been on to Disney. We've been blessed to do some amazing things. I always find myself dreaming of Disney!!! So yes, I to am a Disney-aholic. Admission is the first step, right?? :lmao:
I don't want to change and would live there if I could. Are you listening Disney.... a new market, homes by Disney. Gee, we have Disney mobile why not homes by Disney! Sign me up - Ha- Ha~! :wizard:

I am also part of this cult and my American Express yearly statement will certainly prove it!! ..LOL Seriously, we average 20-25 stays per year divided into 3 different trips. We have traveled all over the world and just got back from a 15 day trip thru northern Europe and while I was having a good time, I was secretly planning our trip back to Disney :teeth: It's an addiction, I can't help myself!! We should seriously start a chapter of DAA or Disney Addicted Anonymous :thumbsup2

Check out the bottom of my signature lol. You're not the only one. Thank goodness my DH and son both are Disney nuts too. They just recently joined the Dis boards with me :thumbsup2 Actually, my husband is the one who talked me into going there, for the first time in my life, for our honeymoon and I'm hooked.

We just returned from a trip on Tuesday of this past week, and he is into pin collecting now. He was sitting on our bed putting all of his new pins in the case he bought while we were down there. He said, "Is this sad, the fact that I'm 54 and love this stuff?" :rotfl:

Hi! My name is Kristi and I too am an Disney addict! I have gotten my DD10 princess: and DD6 princess: in to the club also. As for my husband, I am not sure he will be joining. Not to say that he dosen't have a good time when we go, but just not like the rest of us. I have even been trying to save money to join the DVC ( I want to pay cash and not finance it). When I bring the DVC conversation up he askes me "don't you think that money would be better spent on something else?" Is he nuts???? :confused3 Someday, soon I hope I will win that discussion!

Hi Peter. I'm Matt, and I actually have more posts on DIS now than my wife. My obsession started because I thought it would be a good way to see the status of my relationship by taking my GF away for a long weekend. Now, we're DVC members, and planning our 4th trip to WDW in the last 2 years.

It's not so bad, they sell beer at EPCOT, and they DO own ESPN.

:rotfl: Right there with you...maybe we should start a program. Step one, acceptance. Step two, study the crowd estimates to determine when our next trip will be. :thumbsup2

I only wish my DH felt like that!!! I'm a Disney-Holic but DH says "why don't we go somewhere else besides Disney"!!! WHAT IS HE CRAZY!!! :lmao:
He's already mad at me cause we're leaving in 4 days and I keep saying, "now it's almost over" lol... The planning and waiting is half the fun, ya know.

Sign me up...I'm hopeless. I've read every book ever written about Walt and Disney and I wrote my college research paper on Walt and guess what?....I got an A+. I can't get enough of WDW and I am just not happy if I don't have a WDW trip in the planning stages. Like many of you I've traveled to many wonderful, exotic locations but non of them can compare to a magical WDW trip. I have managed to create an equally addicted daughter and now that she will be going off to college next year I'm looking for a new partner in 'crime'...

My name is Florinda, and I my DH my 3 DC and 3 DGrC are Disneyholics,

For me my obsession start at 5 in 1965 at Disneyland( we live 30 miles away )and went at least once a month until I join the military at 17 shipped over to Germany (no Disney cried for 2 weeks) WDW started in 1976 when I went to visit my sister in FL and we took a vacation to the WDW. Now I have passed my addiction on to not only my DH but DC's and DGrC's (I feel so ashamed NOT!) we have travel all over the US, Canada and Europe but there is no place like Home (WDW) 32 days and counting  :surfweb: The Dis boards are a wonderful fix between vacations.

Peter cool thread :woohoo:

Don't give up your addiction just get everyone you know to join you then you seem normal :rotfl2:

Hello Peter!
Lucky you, that your DW is also addicted to Disney! My kids love it, (but what kids would not) but my DH does not. He gives in every time we go but has told me that" this is it for a while"
I am hoping that is not true as I cannot imagine not going to disney for a few years, but I guess he has been a good sport.
But I just don't think any other vacation can compare, and although I am thrilled to be going soon, I am a little sad that I may not be returning too soon. :sad2:
As they say part of the fun is in the planning and these boards are also lots of fun. :bounce:

Hi Peter. My name is Lorie and I am also a Disneyholic. I finally converted DH to our side. It took seven years, but all of the trips taken for the conversion finally paid off- he just said this month that he can't wait to go back to WDW. I had tears of happiness in my eyes and felt such a great feeling of accomplishment. I knew he would eventually come around- who could resist Disney for that long? I also began the training of DD in utero... you can never start too early... :thumbsup2

Ms Marigny, do you have any pointers on how to make the DH convert? I would love to hear what you did :thumbsup2 I keep hoping that he will convert but has not as yet. When we stayed at OKW in March it helped the situation a little bit, but he definetly needs more work.

Hi Peter

My name is Denise and I am the DW in "married a disney nut" - :cool1: Thanks for joining our cult - It wasn't hard at all to win you over!!! Once you had that cool-aid I knew you'd be as addicted as the rest of your family.

New York was nice --- but it wasn't DISNEY
Vegas was romantic ---but it wasn't DISNEY
Looking forward to our 26 day vacation over Christmas :yay:

Love ya :lovestruc

Denise

Hello Peter - I am a 52 yr old Gramma... and have been a Disney addict since I was 3 and made my first visit to DL... Now have passed this addiction along to my DD, and new DSiL. They were married in Vegas over Labor Day, and even though it was a beautiful wedding - with everything perfect, she pulled me over after dinner and said "it isn't Disney World"... We are all looking forward to our next Disney "fix" in November for their "Disney-moon" :goodvibes Hope you get comfort in knowing you are not alone, and there is nothing better than being addicted to "Disney" :wizard:

I have to be counted in with the rest of you... though I haven't been able to indulge in my Disney addiction near as much as I'd like to... Like most of you it's been a life long love...

I have Disney movies older than my DD, so I can't even try to claim it developed due to having a child... it developed due to having been a child... If I think about it, it's the acceptance I feel at Disney that fuels the addiction... Be a kid again and no one looks down on you for it there!... It's an addiction to our childhood that Disney feeds... Wear a silly hat, people smile... Hug a guy dressed like a donkey, bear, mouse, people smile... It's that stuff that causes us to keep going back... for some of us, it's making up for a childhood lost... or missed out on... or long since past... How much is that worth?...

I already miss it... and can't wait to go back again... like another poster said, I'd live there if I could... Like other posters, my DH doesn't share the addiction... He has fun there, and didn't blink an eye when I told him we were going back in 2008... but he currently claims that "that will be it" for him... I guess I'll just have to go without him after that... He also is "all Disneyed out" by the end of a week... so staying any longer seems to be out for me as well... If it weren't for DH needing a new truck, the house needing a new back porch (deck), and my DD going to Europe as a Student Embassador, all in 2007, we'd be going back sooner...

I'll also add that I caught that darn pinbug while down there in The World... I have my collection started... It's a nice little way of showing who your favorite characters are, where you've been, when you've been, and what you've done...

Ok... so that's my story... like the rest of you, I LOVE that mouse.. :lovestruc

I like the rest of you am a Disney addict, I figure it still must cost less than other addictions. Now if I could just convert my DH life would be blissfull. I am thinking about sprinkling pixie dust in his beer to see if I can convert him, think it would work? Any other advice on how to convert a non-diser would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Peter - are you myt long lost brother? I totally know what you are saying! We just got back from NYC and I needed my Disney fix - went to World of Disney and it made me miss Disney more.
Seems like we are Ontarians and DVC members! My hubby and I have travelled the world and I just love Disney. We are going on our 1st Disney cruise this Oct. and I am really excited.
Don't worry - if you are going to have an addiction - I cannot think of a better one!

Peter you've come to the place all good Disney-holics come. Welcome, you're in good company, we're all addicted. There must be something in the pixie dust that get's into your blood stream. No cure, just more Disney trips.

Hi Peter,my name's Julie and I'm a Disneyholic. The funny thing is last night I was trying to book a room @ 3am(the Disneyworld.com site was down) and as I was falling asleep,I wondered if there was a 12 step for Disneyholics. I should have known that I'd find one on the DIS!! Quitting smoking was nothing in comparison. :rotfl:
