Thanks for sharing, Elaine, a very beautiful thought, so very poignant. Moms are indeed special.

My mom passed away 6 years ago tomorrow, from cancer also. Even though I was estranged from her at the time of her death, and the prior 11 years, I still do miss her.

Oh Elaine, as you have said before to me - I totally understand!!!!!!!!!!! I sat down tonight to finally write our Christmas letter - one of the worst times I've had writing that damn letter!!!!!!!! I too think I am living on as my mom but god I miss her so much right now - and I know it will get easier but damn it, I just wish I could have had one more Christmas with her and some warning that she was going to die when she did - I didn't get to tell her I loved her before she left and ever since Britt's birthday the other day I can't get that out of my head.....

There's a special bond between our moms and us. Thank you for sharing some thoughts on your own mom. It was a beautiful post.

I found this Christmas somewhat hard myself just writing some cards to my Uncle and cousins who lost their wife/Mom (my Aunt) this past May. She was a wonderful lady who truly touched every life she came in contact with. And, with other close relatives, who've had a rough time, medically this year. And, another DISer, Chris who's really had a tough year but, she keeps giving 110%!

I truly take heart with all the emotions shared here, as it gives me something to be most grateful about ~ Sharing my holidays with my family!
