I was at my happy place this past weekend and had an experience I've never had before...

At the beginning of the day, I packed the front my fanny pack with batteries, pass, ID, credit cards, change, and the big part of my pack with Camera, brush and rain poncho. I was ready for my day.

Well, I sat down to take a break and my fanny pack burnt my leg. I reached inside and found that my coins were scalding hot. I couldn't even touch them without burning my fingers.

Turns out the camera batteries, with all the coins around them, made a connection and energized my money!

Wow! That is a great tip to know, because I would have never even realized that connection!! Yikes, that must have been hot!!

Thanks for the heads up!

that you weren't using lithium-ion batteries! (used in many new digital cameras) because they can explode if "shorted" in the manner you describe!

I carry 2-3 sets (of 4 batteries each) NiMH AA rechargables for my digital camera. I ordered some really nice cordura pouches made to carry 4 AA batteries. It's a really handy and safe way to carry them in the fanny pack.

OMG! That happened to me too, 2 trips ago. I had a new camera which used a different kind of battery(not the usual aaa's). The last day of our trip I was sitting at Chef Mickeys and my leg started burning. At first I thought I dropped food, but then I realized I didnt. I was completely freaked until DH figured out what it was.
Good idea to warn people! :D
