I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. I lost my dad five years ago to cancer. He suffered a very long time and even though I miss him everyday, I get comfort knowing that he is in a far better place now and is no longer suffering. Take comfort in knowing that your mother is now watching down on you and your family. Even though she is no longer physically here, she will always be with you.
